Four new (rather large) light towers installed this past week at the SACA ground opposite the RAH. No pictures, sorry.
Ah! I noticed these yesterday and wondered how long they’d been there.

[U/C] Re: Currie/Rosina St | 115m | 32lvl | Sofitel

The new height is 117m due to adding a ballroom level with a height of 5.5m. On the height, I'm confused. In the original proposal, the building was 152.64m AHD to the top of the plant, and 41.940m AHD at ground level, resulting in a height of 110.70m, which is what I thought the height was origina...

This one has turned out really well. More of this for the inner city.

I know it's a cloudy day, but I think we can safely say those spandrels (which became concrete rather than glass upon variation) will not have the promised reflectivity.

Can't comment yet whether that's a good or bad thing.

[U/C] Re: 104-106 Currie Street | 117m | 33lvl | Sofitel Hotel

I expect difference in ground levels between Westpac and Sofitel contributes something to the perceived height differential, but I wonder if the gradient of the site itself minimises the max height. Remember that there's a whole additional level at the back of the building accommodated by the slope ...

Large mobile crane out in front of this one today. Couldn't see what they were doing.

I'd be surprised if the Tryp by Wyndham didn't go ahead given the site has already been cleared and its occupancy would presumably be supported by visitors to the Calvary Hospital and less affected by recession hits to other industries.

[PRO] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | ~ 135m | 35 levels

The arcade is a depressing mess, sure, so replace it. Do we need to draw out a demolition/construction phase any longer by adding a high-rise building on top? No. There are plenty of nearby spots you can expand on local residency, the old bus terminal for instance without needing to take up the air...

[PRO] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | ~ 135m | 35 levels

I’m so excited for this. It’s a great design that will transform one of Adelaides clown jewels, the markets. It’ll have as big of an impact street level as it will on the skyline and really bring the skyline further south. Spoken like someone who never frequents the Central Markets, because ask any...

I would've thought the big touring sports teams would have relationships with the larger corporate hotel providers and unlikely to stay here anyway?

For all those who bang on about bringing back the Northern Lights art projections to the Festival, or about spreading events throughout the year -- the state government will support a new winter event called Illuminate Adelaide. It will chiefly involve art projections throughout the city but will mo...
