It will eventually be dwarfed by Realm Adelaide, so I'm not overly disappointed.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

As a new domestic airline into Adelaide, it will be tough to succeed. I hope they have a big marketing budget. Your average traveller will still type Newcastle into the Qantas, Virgin or Jetstar websites.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Wouldn’t it just be the the properties on the western side that would be affected? Surely the motorway has to go under Regency Road like the rest of the project.

I see they’re opening a Uniqlo in the Perth CBD in the next few months - hopefully we’re not too far off.

Re: Riverbank Hotel

Off the top of my head, we have a Sofitel, Langham, SkyCity Casino and Lester hotels in the works - and now this proposal? Telling that it’s come from a politician and not a hotel chain. I think it would be great to extend the Riverbank further, but this is just a pipe dream from a man with no relev...

Looks like it got the full water cannon salute. I wonder if we’ll ever see it on a regular Qantas service from Adelaide? Seems doubtful...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Having done a red-eye with AA from Honolulu to DC via LAX (two narrow-body flights) - I wouldn't recommend it. US airlines are best avoided at all costs.

The location is not bad it just means more has to be developed around that area in the future, so you you may as well start with this.
That's the problem - once you start it's a slippery slope, and soon Rundle Street will lose a lot of its character.

Re: PRO: Hobart | 28-30 Davey Street | Hotel | 180m/205m

Out of scale..? So how exactly does a city grow taller? Meter by meter? Normally I'd agree with you, but the current tallest building in Hobart's CBD is 58m. This is three to four times taller. Not only could it take decades to catch up, but it would ruin any photograph of the city. I'm sure it wil...

This is completely out of scale with Hobart's existing skyline - I'm not a fan at all.

The design is nice though so they could build it here

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

This may not just apply to Adelaide but all Aussie and World airports as far as I know, maybe with the exception of Israel. Anyone enlighten me? In Istanbul we had to go through security to get into the terminal. But this comes back to the problem with security scanning - people will always need to...

Looks like a few Melburnians are in a flap over the size of the place - worth a read on the price of excessive growth.
