[VIS] Re: Adelaide Contemporary Art Gallery

The East End is not Siberia - a new gallery would underpin the old RAH transformation and complement the Botanic Gardens, Rundle Street and the Fringe.

Perhaps if you were building Adelaide from scratch in 2017 you wouldn't put Government House on such a large and valuable piece of land, I agree.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre - Stage 3 | $350m

I think we're luckier having three different buildings than the monstrosities you see in Perth and Melbourne.

These concepts were before the bus lanes were put in place. Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to make the stops a bit more formal like this.

This looks great. Clever use of the existing building, plus it's nice and tall. Build it now!

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

QantasLink is returning to Kangaroo Island - there'll be three flights a week between Adelaide and Kingscote year-round, increasing to five during the summer peak. There'll also be three flights a week between Melbourne and Kingscote between Dec 17 and the end of January. There'll be a lot of spin a...

Re: News & Discussion: Transport Projects

Already it's easier to go around the back of Greenacres S/C, left onto Muller then right on to Nth East rather than try to turn right on to Nth East from Fosters. Making Fosters left only onto Nth East as they're proposing would make it easier and safer for those unfamiliar with the area and those ...

Re: News & Discussion: Transport Projects

DPTI are planning to remove right-hand turns from Fosters Road into North East Road - a difficult road manoeuvre at the best of times, but the result makes it even harder for thousands of residents to get onto the arterial road. They must want North East Road to behave like a little expressway for a...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Just curious - would they make any changes to the rest of the centre, ie. JB Hi-Fi? That staircase and the claustrophobic basement are not entirely pleasant.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Sweet! All we'd need is a Uniqlo and then we'd have one of the best retail precincts in the country (luxury brands excluded).

Re: News & Discussion: Population Growth

Unsurprisingly, Adelaide was the slowest-growing capital city in the latest stats put out by the ABS. Our population is 1.32 million though now.

Re: How did Victoria grow?

it also helps that the next 4 largest cities in Victoria are all around 2 hours away from Melbourne Definitely - and some of our big centres are not too far either - Victor Harbor-Goolwa, Murray Bridge, the Copper Coast, and even Port Pirie. But they certainly have a geographical advantage whereas ...

Re: How did Victoria grow?

Victoria has spectacular natural advantages for its small size - there is so much arable land and climate advantage with only a few arid or alpine pockets. Of course there's a lot more water and rivers around. They're very lucky to have great provincial towns and cities whereas South Australia's hav...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Air New Zealand will add three weekly 787 flights to Auckland to the existing A320 services - surprising but pleasing announcement. I'm still hoping for direct flights to the South Island.
