[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I still can't believe we're putting an office tower in one of the premier public locations in Adelaide.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

If you fly from Perth to Brisbane it takes a whole day so you then have to stay overnight in Brisbane which is not ideal. It takes nowhere near a whole day. 4h 20m from Perth to Brisbane - only 90 minutes longer than a trip from Perth to Adelaide, and then you're 90 minutes closer to the USA. As fa...

Looking good - much better than its neighbour.

There's one at the Churchill Centre now apparently. Looks like they've swallowed this dubious company's blurb.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

It's not as simple as just turning the parking lane into traffic - you'd also have to cut back all the wider footpaths that extend out to the traffic (i.e. at the pedestrian crossing and George St). Not sure that would be a good outcome.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Whether you're in a car, a bus or on a bike there are always going to be stops and hold-ups. These inner-suburban roads are not freeways. A tram is not going to exacerbate the problem - if anything it might encourage drivers to start using the tram or divert to other roads.

Re: SA Economy

http://i.imgur.com/5QuGywA.png?1 Saw this in the latest federal infrastructure plan - seems like a fairly dire prediction if you want a big Adelaide or one that at least tries to keep up with the other major cities. The plan does talk about encouraging greater growth in the smaller cities while kee...

Re: PRO: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b

I suppose you can use Indigenous or military names without attracting too much controversy.

Remember when the government tried to name the new RAH after Marjorie Jackson-Nelson? Didn't fly! Doubt we'll ever see the Rann Bridge, the Bannon Overpass, the Olsen Tunnel either.

What do you think our chances are of getting direct flights to Thailand anytime soon?

Of course not - I'd just tend to associate something brown with Melbourne, as opposed to Sydney, Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

It's very Melbourne. Shame about the building next door - maybe it can be painted?

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Most of the H&Ms and Uniqlos I've been to have stores set over multiple levels. Is there anything like that available in Rundle Mall? Borders/Cotton On was the obvious one. I imagine it would require a bit of effort to get one in to somewhere like the Myer Centre or the David Jones arcade.

Well, well, I always assumed the subway idea on this forum was a wacky proposal but looks like it was attempted in the 1960s: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-10-12/e ... lt/6835034
