[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

sidewalks are all operational and nothing fenced off. :secret: We call them footpaths here. You've been paying too much attention to American TV! :) Haha thanks for that. As for Flaxmill Road's closure, I don't think it will be to bad on Beach Road (with exception to the first few days, li...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Passed over the Flaxmill Road Bridge today and I was suprised to see Variable Message Boards up Advising of the closure of Flaixmill Road from July 13th until Jan 2014. I would have thought they might have left this until they had beach road closer to completion and with greater capacity. Flaxmill r...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Notification this morning for closure of Marion Road, although it's a bit short on details of what the closure is actually for. From what I saw driving past on the weekend I would guess work on the foundations for the new central support pier. Marion Road Closure I am writing to advise that Marion R...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

Variable Messages boards have popped up around Noarlunga Centre with roughly the following message:

"Stay Switched On. Respect the Wires, Wires Electrified from 17th June. Phone 1800....."

Power Testing I guess, unless the first train is due to arrive around the same time or shortly there after?

[COM] Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Overpass

And as a resident of the Marion Council area, I'd be livid if they did anything to prolong the closure even more! But now might be a good time for a simpler improvement: widening of that section of Diagonal Road to add another northbound lane. Would a full closure of the line be required for this, ...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Just a quick shot of the Elizabeth Road bridge taken this morning as I was cruising nearby. Still a fair way from reopening I'd say... There have been additional delays with the Elizabeth Road Bridge, the re-opening has been rescheduled now for Mid-June, as posted on the DPTI Facebook feed. Also, y...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Well, Beach Road has been brought back to it's normal alignment, It was only a very short change of a few days. It was definately for power line works to prepare to bring the powerlines under beach road and across the new bridge. Similar works were done on the Eastern side of the express way a month...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

There appear to be strong arguments from both sides on this matter. But a couple of observations that I haven't seen answered to date: 1. Copper maintenance - this would be required regardless of solution and must be factored somewhere (eventually) - as I understand it, Telstra will be in serious d...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

I admit not knowing the technical aspects of an NBN roll-out, including overall commercial arrangements, but I do know that there appears consensus generally on the fact that Governments are poor owners / managers of essentially commercial enterprises. This is something that I've never really under...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Wrote they were quick with that. I think it was only Monday I went past and they were putting down the first layer of the roadway. I'd assume it's so they can start extending the bridge over the now closed roadway. Yeah, the road is only one layer thick and well short of the new kerb level. This is...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

From what I saw this arvo, there still seems to be a long way to go before Elizabeth Road is reopened - the proposed mid May date seems optimistic at the moment. Beach Rd east of the expressway has been narrowed slightly while they're constructing what looks like a long slip lane on the northern si...

Moore Road bridge works continue and are now expected to be complete in mid June 2013. The eastern side of the Elizabeth round bridge has been dug up so they can install the new...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

By the way something caught my eye; In this pic, you can see that the new overhead masts in the background span across the rail tracks in 2 segments, spanning 4 tracks each. Fair enough. However, a bit closer to the foreground of the image, the southern most overhead mast spans 6 tracks, the two so...
