Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Oh, I definitely understand that. But modern light rail (not a metro with light vehicles), is designed to be visible and integrate with city streets. It's starting to be seen as part of an integrated active transit, including walking and cycling. Adelaide has a light-rail right-of-way at surface le...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Light rail in tunnels won't ever and should never happen. Absolute rubbish.....plenty of cities around the world want to get their trams/light rail vehicles off the surface of crowded city streets to speed up the service. Here's a Wikipedia article to explain it in simple terms. https://en.wikipedi...

Re: Should the O-Bahn be converted to light rail?

Ttp interchange has no room currently with most passengers not interchanging at ttp, they just ride on through on the bus they are already on. When I have used the TTP interchange 50% of passengers left the bus at the interchange. Plenty of room to build the light rail line in a trench with the bus...

Re: Should the O-Bahn be converted to light rail?

Obahn is said to have capacity of 18,000 an hour. That is 300 standard buses per hour...5 buses per minute....never gonna happen.. What is the actual number of passengers using the busway during peak hours?...3..4 thousand? With your rail approach what kind of massive interchange upgrades do you ha...

Re: Should the O-Bahn be converted to light rail?

I would be disappointed for this to happen. What makes the O-bahn so great is because it moves more people per hour than equivalent light rail or heavy rail and it's fast (Modbury to Hackney in 15 minutes). Yes it does at the moment........because the Adelaide heavy rail network has such low freque...

Should the O-Bahn be converted to light rail?

I am wondering about the future of the O-Bahn? Does the track have to be renewed at some time in the near future? Would this be an opportunity to convert to light rail? Do the bridges along the O-Bahn track need to be raised if light rail was built? Are there any other technical/geographical impedim...

I like it too....and want it to be much taller, with most of the floors set back from the street.

The current render is just a bit too "chunky" for my liking.
