Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I was just thinking that as I read the article on InDaily. This is a perfect opportunity before us, for the council to build a new swimming facility on O'Connell Street, in the heart of North Adelaide. Doing so will massively improve accessibility for residents and visitors alike and everyone benefi...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

I would rather see the $200m go towards much needed level crossing removals. The two intersections earmarked for upgrades are nowhere near as high priority as removing either the Park Terrace, Salisbury or Cross/Marion Roads tram crossing.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I wasn't aware that there was such a glaring loophole that allowed a developer to build balconies into the airspace of what is council land. Stick within the property boundaries.

And I agree, there needs to be some stricter rules around shadowing over park lands, building setbacks and plot ratios.

It literally looks like what a first year architecture student would have thrown something together overnight in Google Sketchup. :applause:

It's wider because it accommodates 4 lanes each way, plus merging lanes.

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I can see that $2.4b would allow for either an elevated or surface level freeway through the Tram to Tonsley (T2T2) stretch, but not a trench or tunnels. What would be the social impact on the area of a Superway-style elevated freeway between the tram and Tonsley? It could give nice views of the CB...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city

Personally my preferred option is a refurbishment of Hindmarsh Stadium, however, the major setback with this is that it is surrounded by 6 State Heritage properties, which undoubtedly will be met with protest if demolition of these properties is even considered. Having said that, I believe it would ...

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

It'd seem logical the service pattern would go as follows starting from Adelaide:

Outer Harbour - express to Woodville (interchange), express to Port Adelaide, stopping all stations to Outer Harbour.
Port Dock - stopping all stations to Port Dock.
Grange - stopping all stations to Grange.

A 1,588 page development assessment report just for a small railway extension and new station. Wow. I wouldn't want to be the planner having to read and go through all that!

[U/C] Re: 295-297 Pirie Street | 60m | 16 Levels | Apartments

This has got to be one of the slowest builds of any building in recent construction history in Adelaide. Absolutely glacial. Actually, 250 East takes that title, but this is 2nd.
