Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Bulldoze the Myer centre did I read? Won't happen.A Singaporean investment consortium recently, well in the past couple of years, bought it for around $270 million. It's unfortunate though, because they were talking about turning it into some sort of shopping mecca, re-opening all the closed shops ...

Looks like this is being reborn as a hotel... as we seem to have a shortage of those proposed. 4785 020/A065/19 Alto Adelaide Pty Ltd C/- Masterplan Pty Ltd ADELAIDE CITY COUNCIL 124-126 Franklin Street, Adelaide Construction of a 26 storey hotel building Under Assessment 10/12/19 Now I'm starting ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

The Myer Centre should be knocked down and rebuilt with retail and eateries on ground level, London Tavern on second floor with balcony, then floors of offices/apartments/hotel rooms on levels above. If Big W did move into mall it should be a combined Woolworths , Big W store. I remember a restaura...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

That would be a perfect use of the space, something that brings people into the mall and the way the building is setup it would have good visibility. I think this is a better fit for (and only way to save) the upper levels of the Myer Centre. A walk around the bigger city shopping precincts would p...

  Kyren's buildings are all bland but good ole Samaras seems to be the only one with any balls erecting towers. Wait 'til the student accommodation tower is built. It most probably will take the spotlight. As for Realm, that too is nothing special. Simple building with a wavy form thanks ...

Been saying this all along about the design, so I'm past that stage of caring. What I'm more shock by is how they've even half arsed the design elements on the podium that were what gave this building any hope of not being a towering pile of nothing.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Harris Scarfe has gone into voluntary administration but will keep trading through at least Christmas while they look for a buyer. Have to say, the city store looks completely dead whenever I happen to go into it. Aside all the other challenges for retail atm and department stores in particular, I ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

It's a no from me. A big, fat, whopping no. This kind of proposal should not even be entertained - in any form. The Crows are a private entity. Private entities have no place in the Parklands. The Parklands are a public asset to be enjoyed by all people. So I guess you're opposed to the Casino expa...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Open tender ? Like any offer outside the crows would give a toss what the council or the local nimbys want. Council doesn't want to run it maintain it or spend money on it then it should shut the Fuck up The council will always own the land Any use of it will be as a lease It's the best deal they'r...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Love the design, love the fact that this portion of the parklands will be maintained by the AFC (so it'll actually be green) and will likely see some SANFL games played there. Hate the fact that they're basically giving the public one pool to shut them up and taking away an existing multi purpose ce...
