[U/C] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b

On DPTI website for 10 August 2018:
The Northern Connector reached a significant milestone this week with the first of 12 beams lifted into place for the Waterloo Corner Interchange bridge.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

I also don't understand why they've kept the remnants of the old departures car bridge... It's a clunky concrete structure that should have gone with the plaza development. It appears from the photos that the departures car bridge is connected to the hotel so that guest will be able to exit the hot...

SA Strategic Infrastructure

The recent announcement ( http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-22/kangaroo-island-bridge-plan-dismissed-by-mayor/10022714 ) of a plan to build a 14km bridge to Kangaroo Island at a projected cost of $4 to 5 billion has been widely criticised. However, it did get me thinking whether SA needs to "think ...

[U/C] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b

From the DPTI Facebook page posted on 13 July 2018: What’s happening on the Northern Connector? Over the last month, works have increased along the Port River Expressway as the new bridge that will connect the South Road Superway and the new Northern Connector takes shape. The team have been working...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

What rolling stock will be used? There is nothing in the press release about either buying more 4000-class, or about converting the 3000-class to be powered from the overhead wires. I don't recall anything in that area for stage 1 either, as the stated benefit was in getting Seaford train sets to D...

[U/C] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b

A longer version of the video was originally posted on Vimeo on 20 April 2018 so the above video is a bit out of date. It's a pity that the contractor for the southern half of the connector hasn't posted drone footage of anything other than the southern interchange.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

An interesting article in the Sydney Morning Herald about why the CBD light rail project has gone wrong ( https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/how-did-gladys-make-such-heavy-work-of-light-rail-20180629-p4zohz.html ). One quote caught my eye: Faruqi, who has a doctorate in engineering, has argued exte...

Photo of the Sutton Road bridge at Darlington which was posted on the DPTI Facebook page. It shows the excavation of the trench. Still a long way to go.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

It is hard to imagine that a decade after the first KWS extension, which from memory went pretty well to plan, and then the Hindmarsh extension, likewise, this particular project has been so problematical. Not quite right. If my memory is correct, there were problems with the underground conduit on...

The plan was always to build the embankment then let it settle for a year - the concrete won't take long to do.
Yes, but it's the middle of 2018 and the embankment is nowhere near finished. If the embankment has to settle for a year then a late 2019 opening is increasingly unlikely.

Adelaide Brighton (which is supplying the concrete for the Northern Connector) held an investor's briefing which resulted in this comment published on 12 June 2018 ( https://www.fnarena.com/index.php/2018/06/12/lime-shines-for-adelaide-brighton/ ), "The main disappointment is the continued delay of ...

The community update for May 2018 is now available online at https://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/461880/Newsletter_May_2018_LR_v6.pdf . Nothing really new. However, it says that 13km of the 15.5km northern connector will be surfaced in concrete but the 4 interchanges wil...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

I just read this comment about the Northern Connector in Salisbury Council's St Kilda Master Plan: It is intended that the road corridor will have a thematic aproach to the four interchange gateways (South Road, Bolivar Road, Waterloo Corner Road and Northern Expressway) based upon Kaurna heritage a...
