[COM] Re: [West Franklin] | 54m & 64m | 17 & 20 lvls | Apartments

Except the majority of Galley and Altitude are cheap hotel rooms and large swathes of both buildings are unoccupied at any given time. Oaks have also secured a chunk of West Franklin, although I understand much smaller. Hopefully WF can bring a better sense of residency and community to the area wit...

Re: Beer Garden

Speaking of News.com.au I've noticed alot more SA tourism articles on there, focusing on the rooftop bars, laneways, festivals, Adelaide Oval climb and the regions. Adelaide's reputation is slowly improving. These things don't happen by accident. I'd say either someone at SA Tourism Commission has ...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

That's a great outcome IMO and unfortunately not universal given the condition of the network and the issues they're having running a different spectrum compared to Telstra HFC. I do a bit of content creation on YouTube and the 2.5Mbps upload on the Telstra product (with speedboost) effectively kill...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

Yeah recently moved to the western suburbs and signed up with Telstra HFC. NBN rollout was apparently planned for early 2018 prior to the pause in rollout. However NBN have been crawling all over the neighbourhood throughout January and even dug a new pit into the footpath right outside of our house...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling Infrastructure

From memory they intended to hit the width suggested by design guidelines (there's no ADR as such) to allow two cyclists to pass one another (2M?). If that's not the case and more experienced riders opt to use the primary lane then it will open up a fairly serious avenue of criticism "see they ...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

I'd rather not cover old ground as I think I'm pretty clear on your views on the topic, but from a political perspective it seems to hold narrow value. It seems to be a cynical dog whistle to people who have a stick up their ass about the 'homosexual agenda', given there's no need to dismantle safe ...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

if it was any other state, you'd have the Premier's head) but they all seemed to turn out to be nothing more than a wobble than a downright free-fall in terms of voting intentions and satisfaction with the government. Were it any other state, you might have an opposition which is capable of landing...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

There's some irony in business lobby groups who run campaigns opposing taxes then complaining when they miss a government handout lol.

Also seems a bit rich to appoint Marshall's former chief spin doctor and then complain about suggestions of partisanship.

Re: Riverside Precinct

I hope there's a bit of financial support behind the stuff opening around the convention centre as it seems it could take some time for the zone to become popular. I've been riding past daily and the area still feels like the sleepy park it always has been... probably not aided by the amount of civi...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport

Massive upshot from the changes to bus stops along Grenfell and Currie is they've finally moved the taxi rank from in front of 25 Grenfell. It's a bus stop now. So hopefully no more taxis queuing across the pedestrian crossing, or mounting the footpath trying to tuck in to the end of the queue, and ...

Announcement on the ACC site: http://www.cityofadelaide.com.au/media-centre/whats-new/council-plan-to-revitalise-the-heart-of-north-adelaide Given the inability of council to decide on how to build a bike lane I'll be very surprised if this process goes smoothly. Are there numerous councillors with...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling Infrastructure

They did note in their response they wanted to use a composite material but were knocked back on external funding. Also noted audits are underway for bridges in the council boundaries and they expect this underpass to come back as "good condition", which I expect will determine the time fr...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling Infrastructure

Not sure if anyone uses linear park west of the city, but the port road underpass has been a bit of a running saga. It fell into disrepair and the council (Charles Sturt's) response was to erect signs instructing people to dismount from their bikes (nb: we didn't). They re-did the timber a number of...
