Great shot Plasmatron. Actually gives the Intercontinental some scale and context too, making it less intrusive from that angle. Looking forward to seeing the casino hotel lit up at night too when completed.Plasmatron wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 5:02 pmThe view from across the Torrens last week... (15/1/2020)

I’m not usually critical of other opinions on this forum but as someone who has been to the AO at Melbourne Park twice in the past 3 years and two night sessions at the Adelaide International so far this year I have to question whether the posters above have actually a) watched any lower level ATP ...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade
Once saw an international tennis event there some years back and being a poor student bought tickets in the far end bay in the southern stand. Struck me then what an absurd design MD was for centre court tennis. They had no qualms in selling expensive tickets for seats with a great view of everythin...

Yes understand that developers might choose a property manager but the development would not proceed without intense collaboration with the hotel chain. i.e. the hotelier would describe what their requirements are and it seems logical that one of those would be a distinctive exterior design which wo...

Curious that Crowne Plaza would want their name associated with such a mediocre offering.

Someone’s been conned. There was much ado by the SMA claiming there would be absolutely no addition to the footprint, and that the hotel would be suspended from the current oval structure. So what are these multiple massive concrete ‘feet’ being erected directly outside of the original ‘footprint’? ...

City of Adelaide has now completed its final voyage and is safely moored on its barge at Dock 2. Hoping that the proposed Dock 2 maritime village moves along now and foot access from the Port centre is opened up soon via the proposed footbridge across Dock 1.

Great tribute to the Riverbank stand. Hope they light it up at night to reflect the Oval lighting too. Would look great from the south bank and bridge.

Never really liked plonky Edwardian institutional architecture as a genre but now the trees are gone I’ll get the chance to enjoy it for years to come. The new landscaping better be bloody good. What an eye-catcher this building is already - even more so when complete. Great precedent for future high-rise developments.

Recently returned from Brisbane. The Riverside area in the picture is pulsating with life day and night, as is Southbank just around the bend. We might not like their building design but we can learn a lot about how to activate an urban riverside precinct. The casino hotel will be central to that, a...

Ok so let’s build a pig and then maybe think of putting lipstick on it down the track? You know that’s not going to happen (at least the lipstick part). I assume you are only talking about the hotel component. Well yes it is a pig any way you look at it. I've said it before. Adding the hotel in its...

Make no mistake about it Adelaide Oval is a magnificent venue. Comparisons with Perth or Mars or Timbuktu are pointless. What give Adelaide the edge, besides its setting and great spectator experience is its uniqueness. And innovation and uniqueness is what a provincial city needs if it wants to be...
