[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

It has already been said that the budget doesn't allow for something like that at this time. However there is nothing about this plan that prevents it being done a decade or two from now if there is the need. tbh i think thats the deal, whats being offered up is a pretty decent option and then it c...

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

Spend some time at the South Rd / Cross Rd overpass and try to imagine that transported into Vic Square. Note how long the ramps on either end need to be and consider what that would be like on Grote or Wakefield street. Stand under the bridge section and listen to how much noise comes down from th...

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

First make two lists: one, all the bridges you can think of; the other, all the bridges that people like to spend time underneath. Which one is longer, and by how much? Spend some time at the South Rd / Cross Rd overpass and try to imagine that transported into Vic Square. Note how long the ramps o...

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

Why can't we lift all the roads up through and around the square, they would provide cover and shelter during winter to further utilise the space and if intergrated into the design and soundproofed to an extent would make for far less traffic related intrusion on the area. They could instead of runn...

Re: PROPOSED: 2-300 block Sleaford Cove Development

really dont see the point of it tbh, wouldn't have thought the demand would be there. I've been there a few times and wouldn't consider living there.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

Question is? Do you think most people would actually 'forgive' Labor for backflipping on the issue and going with the the idea of building a new multipurpose stadium close to the city? I would. absoloutley, nothing wrong with admitting mistakes and correcting them. Delibiratly misleading the public...

The fact remains Australia is not a soccer loving nation, the A league is full of unsustainable clubs, no exciting growth in crowd numbers.... Exactly and will never be.. Not whilst the A-League is just a B-Grade competition. The fact remains that any promising young players will imediatly be snapp...

Whicker also said that staying at West Lakes is out of the question for football, because 'there is no possibility of generating any more income from West Lakes, because there are simply no funds available to improve the site. Do you know if any audio exist of this? I am not surprised to hear (not ...

To Stumpjumper please, for the sake of humanity stop spamming these threads. To Ricecrackers, when Adelaide United demonstrate it can fill hindmrash perhaps a bigger stadiums may be an option. Or better yet, how about a sustainable Adelaide United? As for the world cup, OMG BUILD STADIUMS I WANT DA...

I thought the oval had a true 'oval' shape, but having been there only once, memory not a top reference point.

SA - STATE ON THE MOVE
look at it on google maps, hugely "D" shaped.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

I would think the attendance numbers would increase but I am not sure the increase would be enough to warrant a 27K plus stadium for one tenant. Wouldn’t a 27K plus stadium be too big and expensive for United to use? Let’s face it AO is the best use for any stadium upgrade in this city for a possib...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

Should we have a legacy from soccer a 27K stadium that is only filled to 1/3rd capacity on average and one tenant or a stadium that will have 3 tenants, be use more often with an average of ¾ capacity used? Considering one of the main reasons for moving AFL to the city center is to increase crowds,...

The missus scored free tickets to go see the Australian String Quartet at the Adelaide town hall the other night, whilst i can't say the music enthralled me all that much i have never been inside the building before and i was rather taken by it. The reality is Labor is putting its money into AO therefore will not spend $535 million and then have to spend $125 million on a rectangular stadium. The dollar for dollar spend which is need for any WC federal money is in AO. So if for unknown reason AO cannot be made FIFA compliant it will cost S...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

Stubbo, athletics does not belong in a rectangular stadium. An 8-lane 400m oval track requires more space than a soccer pitch, and you can't have an athletics stadium without that. Yeah, only reason I suggested it is due to seeing some games played on SBS with an athletics track arouns the pitch so...
