Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

In contrast to the well received suggestions of demolishing stations for the purpose of amalgamating them, I was wondering if there would be enough demand for a new station immediately north of the Onkaprainga River bridge on the Seaford line. There seems to be a modest number of houses nearby, and...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

One of my earliest concepts with the Gawler line going through the CBD to Unley and onto Millswood. With also new subways running from the northeast to south and southeast. Adelaide Metro System 11 Cheers It is a very nice concept. Unfortunately, if they ever go underground, they'll probably avoid ...

I just boarding a 3000 class on the Gawler line. I thought the days of mixed 3000 / 4000 class traffic on the Gawler line were over.

(not that I'm complaining, I just thought it was odd)

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

When is the realignment of Raglan Avenue scheduled to be built? It feels like they really should’ve pushed this forward, culling one set of lights in Edwardstown will be welcomed with open arms. I had a look on Google Earth history view and it looks like the buildings to the north of the east end o...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Could they save space by using rigid conductor rail in the tunnels in place of traditional overhead lines?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

People in this thread advocate for electrification of that line all the time. It’s a bit of a stretch to say we’re not discussing that (whether it be health benefits or just good transport policy). The batteries are a good short term fix but they just need to get 25khz electrification done or somet...

Saw hybrid railcars 3121 and 3122 at the ARS this morning. Are they in revenue service or just testing?

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I still find it strange that batteries are measured by megawatt hours instead of joules. 250 megawatt hours is basically saying 250 megajoule-per-second-hours. Power plants that have there capacity measured in megajoule-per-second-hours-per-year are even worse. 900 gigajoules is easier to say than ...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

If you're going to electrify the obahn and have electric buses running on it, wouldn't it make sense to either have overhead wires, or a 'powered' rail down the centre at 'ground' level like some tram systems have to power them? I'm sure with some government funding as an incentive, the firm that b...

[U/C] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

Adelaide really needs to abolish the mindset that narrow single lane roads are more efficient than wider ones. IE Elder Smith Rd Bridge, and many other examples. Imagine if Main North Rd was one lane for both directions. Elder Smith Rd bridge was clearly designed to be upgraded to 4 lanes. The eart...
