[COM] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

I wonder if this explains some of the backflip confusion during the election... Liberals were worried about the negative reaction to knocking down Peter Van etc? But when they came up with their dog-leg plan people rightly reacted negatively so they switched back. I don't buy the Peter Van sobs stor...

[COM] Re: Harbour town $35m upgrade

Woolworths will close the doors to its Harbour Town store next month as it instead diverts money to other nearby stores. The supermarket’s parent company, Woolworths Group, confirmed it would shut up the West Beach shop on June 30 as it instead focused on other western suburbs outlets. All 45 emplo...

Re: Oaklands Crossing | $174m

If the Seaford Line is going to squeeze any more services into peak hour, then some compromises or changes are going to be needed to maximise peak hour capacity. At peak frequencies of every 3-4 minutes (or quicker) inbound from Woodlands Park including the Tonsley Line, you are not going to be abl...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

They really should make a reservation beyond the line terminus to future proof any rail extension. Any development in the way will just stuff things up. There's a point where planning for the future can just go too far.... they probably don't see any further extension being on the table for 50 year...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Great find. If they extended the line/path towards University Drive they could create a bus hub/connection there. Also there was a free shuttle that used to go around Flinders Uni, Medical centre, Sturt campus etc.. not sure if it still does but it would be ideal to connect there. If they end up bu...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Can you elaborate what the Flinders Uni development adjacent may or will be? Possibly medicine/health, a new faculty or student accommodation would all make sense. I can't find much on it, but it was mentioned in the big Flinders Link document that the SCAP approved. Think it might be generally ref...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

It'll become the Flinders line and I think it's likely the current Clovelly Park station (Which is right next to the Tonsley precinct) will be renamed 'Tonsley' at some point, although that will depend on whether locals get their wish with a station being built between Tonsley and the new Flinders s...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Glad it's approved and looks like it will be a pretty quick project... I imagine they'll work on it at the same time as finishing Darlington.

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

That proposal or idea for the stadium over the rail lines is stupid. The only thing positive about it is it is directly next to the train station. But the pedestrian bridge over the river nullifies that anyway as it's a short walk straight into the train station. The best option is redeveloping the...

[COM] Re: Oaklands Crossing | $174m

Am I missing something, how does the Oaklands Crossing cause any disruption to the Tonsley line? To give my 2 cents worth three weeks to connect in the new rail is ridiculous. What part of it can possibly take that long that can't be done prior while the existing line is still open? They'll need to...

[COM] Re: Oaklands Crossing | $174m

The closure will inconvenice me, but honestly 3 weeks is fine. A few years ago we had a year or closures and the Tonsley line was out of action for two or three years.... They also don't bring F1 pit crews into do local go karting events. Adelaide is not a place where we have millions of people rely...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

On the Flinders link upgrade... I thought part of the point of where they're planning to put the station is that they want to do some new development near the FMC carpark and this will add value to the project. Honestly the Tonsley line is not used much at the moment and adding this extension will m...

Re: News & Developments: Tonsley

Isn't Park'n'RIde transit-oriented? Surely a 6-level car park is better than the same number of parking spaces at ground level. Yeah and as much as the train will make it easy for some people to get there, it's just acknowledgement of the reality that lots of workers and students won't live on the ...

Re: News & Developments: Tonsley

Plans for a 6 Level carpark to the North of the MAB are up on the planning comission website at the moment: Starting to be a lot of cars parking around the area so will certainly be needed as the carparks get reduced and developed into housing / retail. https://i.imgur.com/cjKF1bC.jpg https://i.imgu...
