So many changes for the city this year and clearly more to come. Although the aim is for year-round activity, festival time itself is shaping up to more exciting than ever.

Just a point of fact, the article did say that the recommendation came from the Council's expert planners, not from any Councillors. Just something to bear in mind before you start going for the jugular...

Not sure that alcohol is an answer to making a place more "vibrant". From experience [that is, from what I've seen] it causes a lot of pain. I guess it's up to individual responsibility. Let's hope these small bars, etc., will be more responsible than many places that I've seen over the y...

I suspect the renders are less flattering then would be the reality. I've seen plenty worse. It's a good spot for a hotel, though you'd have to think it'd be the budget type.

It's on the corner of Hindley and Peel streets. IIRC, the Ginos Group, which led the renewal of Leigh Street, has bought up most of Peel Street and is embarking on a similar revival.
