Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours
Are these establishments operated by robots during your leisure time? Or do the people already employed there simply not fit into your narrow world view? Bakers, correctional officers, police, Fire fighters etc have also existed for a very long time. They are a minority amount of people which are d...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours
Why not just say, "You can trade when the fuck you want" and let the market sort it out? 1)You will kill small business that are unable to trade 24/7. Small business is crucial for the mass of humans to have the ability to control their own lives. They employ themselves and make a living....

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
"Several statewide blackouts(the last on the first day of summer)" "worst unemployment in nation by a whopping margin" 2 paragraphs in and I just can't bring myself to read any more. It is just made up nonsense created to entertain those that know no better. It is unfair to prey ...

Re: New Royal Adelaide Hospital
2 minute drive from my house I have a brilliant Drakes supermarket open 7:30am-10pm 7 days a week. I have 2 more good 7 day supermarkets within 5 minute drive of my house open 7am-9pm. I have an Aldi plus several Woolworth and Foodland stores within 5 minutes drive. They are open the normal 7am-9pm ...

Re: New Royal Adelaide Hospital
I am sure the supermarkets are open after 5pm in Melbourne on the weekends. It's an absolute disgrace that the government forces them to close down here in Adelaide on the weekends. Honestly we're not living in the 1980's. I can't recall ever going on a holiday for an interstate Woolworths. Pretty ...

Re: New Royal Adelaide Hospital
But the state government doesn't do much to support tourism when they close the supermarkets at 5pm on Saturday and Sundays. There would be a truck load of interstate and international tourists who would have a good laugh at our supermarkets closing early on the weekends. I was shocked when I went ...

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
We are not reliant on the interconnectors or wind or solar, they are just the cheapest option so are chosen. If we like we can just not use them and instead buy from the more expensive generators. If a major power generator faults we will get power shedding. Coal is subsidized $4billion a year. http...

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
AFAIK the only time you can have all generators in SA at full tilt AND be drawing across heywood/murraylink is 5:30pm in the middle of a heatwave when south Australians collectively get home from work and fire up their air conditioners. SA summer max peak demand 3397MW 31/01/2011. It had a high of ...

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
Actual numbers: Leading up to the power outage generators were being paid $60-300/MW SA demand at midnight was 1400-1500MW which is typical for the forecast, day of week and time of night. It typically drops to 1100-1200 by 1am and further by 2am. Source: http://www.aemo.com.au/ Power station capaci...

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
Really, no issue with inadequate power generation? So when the interconnector with Victoria went out last night, why were 200,000 South Australians blacked out? Are we producing enough power in this state to cover our needs, or are we reliant on an interconnector with Victoria to keep the lights on...

Re: Another widespread power outage in SA
The state does not have a power generation capacity issue. It has a unreliable cheap supply known as the interconnect, so is in use when available but likes to fault all the time. If any major power source drops offline you will get load shedding like last night until remaining stations can ramp up ...

What gap? Why do ppl keep thinking there is a 'gap'. There is no gap, there is South Road. Just because a road has 2 sets of traffic lights, doesn't mean traffic will suddenly explode going through this section. It is a gap in the non-stop North-South Motorway. As traffic lights cause a stop and ar...
