[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

and specators in adelaide need to remember that it only rains 3-4 times during the season. Fully covered seating would be nice more so for shade than the rain (as its more often sunny than wet in Adelaide as Isaid). IMO i prefer to sit out in the open as the atmosphere kind of gets sucked out when y...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

i'm advocating building a stadium IF we win the world cup bid so IF we win the world cup bid we build a $250 million stadium and if what some have said above is correct half of that is funded by the state govt and half is matched by the Federal govt (money might I add that is being budgeted in good...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

the Crows must be turning a profit at AAMI otherwise how could they afford to build their elaborate new $16 million training facility? they may have made a one off loss this year simply due to that investment..but overall the club is doing very nicely at AAMI I think you'll find a significant sum o...

Stumpjumper, a flexible stadium for rugby codes, hockey, athletics Um, Id hate to tell you but the reason we dont need a rectangular sadium is because we have non of the things. I hate comparing Adelaide to Melbourne but here goes. They have only just completed a purpose built stadium and the reaso...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

I also see some irony in the fact that this whole stadium debate involving a focal move to Adelaide Oval arose largely because of the fact that it was concluded that Adelaide did not need, and could not justify having two large stadium (i.e. Adelaide oval and Football park), yet here we are debating...

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

Crote/Wakefiled crossing should definately be closed off, however this is not a big issue in the scheme of things. Its a relatively small section of road and its passage does not depend on access to either Grote or Wakefield (as there is a dual access from KWS sections of the suare), thus it shouldn...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

I wholehartedly agree with Pants on this one. There is absolutely NO longterm justification for a rectangular stadium being built in Adelaide, irregardless of what the future holds. 250 million seems like a small amount in comparison to the 450, 500, 600 million proposed for the AO redevelopment, ho...

^^^ So did I, in fact I could not have been any more biased towards AO when I filled out my survey :D There were also a couple of articles in the tiser by Rucci about the crows' reluctance to move to the city for reasons of losing their "off field advantages that they have built up over their 2...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment - General Discussion Thread

I agree, there is absolutely no longterm justification for a rectangular stadium of 40K in Adelaide. Melbourne has 4 times as many people and ten times as many professional sporting teams as Adelaide and they only just built a rectangular stadium. huge waste of money. the options are 1) upgrade adel...

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

^^^the east would definately be the side to pick for traffic given that there really isnt a lot directly east of vic sqaure - all of the buzz on the eastern side of the city is in the north east in which case commuters would be travelling through the square via KWS. I'm a fan of the proposal, I thin...

I was going to say, I edged closer to the screen to see if it was a 9 or an 8 that I was reading, as I surely dont remember that building going up in my memorable lifetime.

I would have thought that gambling is only "part" of the equation to justifying a new casino complex as part of this development? anyone who has ever been to the crowne complex in melbourne realises that there is FAR more to do there than just gamble. shopping, dining, entertainment and so...

exactly, there really isnt a huge need for them. although glass would be nicer but thats not very cost effective with maintenance associated with bird poop and other debris from the street.

[COM] Re: PRO: 115 King William St | ~110m | 25lvls | Office

I agree^^. I think awnings actually take away part of the experience of being at street level amongst highrise/skyscrapers etc. They block out all of the good bits and make the street seem like a monotonous continuum of shelter after shelter. In all (or most) of the great skyscraper cities ive been ...
