[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

I believe the main reason for the night closures was for resurfacing the old roadway, as the day closure c is probably not long enough, and construction vehicles are constantly traveling across the road. I can't verify this and haven't been on the expressway for a few weeks so don't know how much t...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Night works have commenced along the expressway, with a 7:15 (1915) to 6am (0600) closure suplimenting the 930 to 3:30 (1530) closure. is this so they can accelarate works and have a shiny new road ready for the election? or has our heatwaves causiing some lost work days? i noticed coming home the ...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

I hazard a speculative guess that many people who voted Liberal in this election did it because as important as the NBN was to them, they were not willing to mortgage their future on a completely dysfunctional Labor Govt with poor policies just to have the NBN. What good was the NBN for example for...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Wow, Just received notification that Honeypot Road will be closed for Bridge works from the 26th of October until March 2014. I'm surprised at this as Beach road is going to become a massive bottleneck given it's current state and capacity. I'm very glad that I'm no longer living in that area, it wi...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

Mid-2014 Judging by the amount of work they still have to do, they will need a very powerful magic wand to get it all done by then. I go up and down it everyday and they have barely scratched it since June. Been doing more bridge work than anything. Am thinking more like November and December 2014 ...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

I agree with you on the mandate concept - utter nonsense and a new, unfortunate angle that is likely to stick around until one party or the other comes up against their own mandate one day and dies a painful death because of it. I refer to it as dead and buried because of the cost savings that have...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

Telstra missed out on contracts to build Labor’s NBN in 2011 despite its experience in rolling out networks and managing telecommunications construction projects. I cannot see the issue - I would agree with Turnbull - it is "bizarre" that the largest Telco by far in Australia is not invo...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

Just posted to the SA Planning, Transport and Infrastructure Facebook page: Diesel rail services on the Noarlunga line will regrettably be unable to resume in September. DPTI still expect to be in a position to return services before the end of the year and are still on track to deliver electric rai...

[COM] Re: U/C: South Road Superway | $842m | 3km

So it begins... ... SA Road Transport Association chief executive Steve Shearer said the Northern Connector, originally planned to be constructed from 2016, was unlikely to start before the $812 million South Rd Superway was completed in 2018. ... Did I miss something? What part of the South Road S...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

With the re-opening on the Noarlunga line apparently on track for September as originally planned, ( Noarlunga rail line to be reopened on schedule... ) where are they at with the overhead wiring? I admittedly don't drive the length of the line at all but do go past area's and it seems to me that th...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

I was discussing the Flaxmill Road bridge closure with a Colleague the other day and they made the point that they couldn't understand why it was being closed at all. They thought that Flaxmill Road bridge should have been duplicated, allowing the existing bridge to be in operation during the const...

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km

I'm not one to complain about changed traffic conditions, I understand it all has a purpose, but what they've done to Sherrifs road westbound is ridiculous and mind boggling. They've gone from 4 lanes, 2 straight, 2 for right turns to Brodie North, down to 3 lanes (understandable), but it's only 1 ...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

Just as a side note, the minister has advised that the electification of the Seaford line is scheduled to be completed in February 2014. Whether that means that electric trains will start running then I have no idea. I'm fairly sure that one of the recent video's posted on Youtube by DPTI mentioned...

sidewalks are all operational and nothing fenced off. :secret: We call them footpaths here. You've been paying too much attention to American TV! :) Haha thanks for that. As for Flaxmill Road's closure, I don't think it will be to bad on Beach Road (with exception to the first few days, li...
