Re: Adelaide: right at home in Australia's 'invisible' city

I think everyone on this site has been justifiably frustrated with Adelaide developments at some stage. Three shelved projects on West Terrace alone drives me nuts - apparently weed-ridden caryards are a better entry statement from the airport. Part of our image problem not mentioned in the article ...

Re: Adelaide: right at home in Australia's 'invisible' city

I can't defend those parts of the city, especially the CBD areas which look so neglected. My bus approaches Currie Street from West Terrace and every trip I think we're losing an opportunity for some kind of architectural statement; the views are great north of Wright Street, the only buildings wort...

Re: Adelaide: right at home in Australia's 'invisible' city

seriously was this written by anne Moran????The problem is that the type of people/place/lifestyle that this article portrays is not what is going to keep us all employed. Sure, there are certain endearing almost nogstalgic qualities to the Adelaide this person portrays, but the fact is, the vast m...

Re: Adelaide: right at home in Australia's 'invisible' city

Considering every other inhabited continent has multiple cities of 9+ million and the best we have is Sydney vs Melbourne breast-beating, I know from personal experience tourists couldn't care less that Adelaide is the smallest mainland state capital. We get most of the bands I want to see, good art...

Re: University of South Australia - Developments and News

Thanks for the updates Xara + previous posters; hoping this becomes the true centre of an expanded college district (beyond the projected northern/eastern developments).

The Liberals didn't have a clear mandate in the 1998 Federal election and the Playmander (2:1) system advantaged a number of State Liberal results... swings and roundabouts. Can we focus on the forum topic?

It's temporary signage as a sponsor of the series. Wonder if West End has any say in the amount of VB (or Coopers) served at the venue?

Day 2 of staunch Victorian Bill Lawry waxing lyrical on how marvellous the Oval is and will be... partisan opponents, just stfu.

Spot on SRW. So many great laneways/character buildings in that part of the CBD - I used to dream of living in the T&G penthouse. Hope Gilbert Place gets the same treatment.

Lots of interior work happening at Fletcher Jones this week - heard rumours about retail/cafe at ground level and office space above.

Re: Zoo financially up the creek

I caught the Popeye a few months ago and remembered how beautiful the Torrens can be. Prices were reasonable, the (captain?) said they're doing well financially and there's a stop at the zoo, though no signs indicating a shared entry fee. Wonder if that's on the table?

Do pub owners in Kings Cross say 'only in Sydney'? I doubt it. A lot of good happens here but we expect everything without a hitch.

I'm mostly serious - NOX/Spuybroek could do the Pea and Gehry could rework the 'Hoist (maybe next to Optus). West Terrace would also look amazing with a heap of organic mid-rises overlooking the parklands.

Perhaps we should have a Sturt's Desert Pea signature building to complement the termite mound? Also hope the adjoining building includes a new Remand Centre - this releases land south as well as east and west of the UniSA Learning Centre.

No worries - I avoid youtube comments as much as Bieber these days. Looking online it seems firms/designers are entitled to sue over copyright infringement but this design may be too generic. Maybe a thread for the pub is the transfer of title and reviving designs like 20-22 Currie St. or the origin...
