An A380 could (soon?) become a regular sight in Adelaide, Emirates plans to change all of their Australia flights to it. Beat me to it. That's a really interesting article. I can't imagine Adelaide justifying an A380 anytime in the near future, but with Emirates you just never know. I particularly ...

From memory, that was self-moderated by the person who posted it. Fair enough if that's the case. And, if so, I apologise for the allegation of inconsistent moderation. Still, one of the reasons I've participated in this Forum for so many years is that the discussion is, by and large, rational and ...

And reduce the speed limit right now to 40km (like every other city centre) and f*ck any bullsh*t arguments against it from News Ltd or that prick councillor Alex Antic And what on earth difference would that make to the conflict between pedestrians and right-turning cars? There's no way a car turn...

Agree with this in principle but in practice I don't think it's always as clear cut. Whilst it would be nice to chuck £70m at the ring road and make the whole thing brilliant overnight, in reality projects happen separately in stages as and when funding allows. In reality the ring road's slowly bei...

see I think we should be trying to make the ring route better the encourage usage I absolutely agree with this part. I take issue with the ideology that because 'Road B' is where we want cars to drive, not 'Road A', we should actively make Road A less attractive (via reduced speed limits, additiona...

If I may chip in... whilst I'm logged in... for the first time in a while... Re negative gearing... irrespective of opinion, I wish people (mainly the media, I suppose) would at least get the basic facts correct before tendering an argument. Negative gearing isn't some sort of cash windfall that man...

Another thing for context is the wideness of roads that gives you a sense for how fast you're travelling. On wide streets in Adelaide it seemed like nothing to go 60kph when I was a kid. Here in Prague.... if someone went even 40kph down most of these streets it'd be a freakin Hollywood car chase. ...

I'm in two minds about whether cyclists are already held sufficiently accountable for their actions. In theory, cyclists are held accountable to the same standards as motorists. They have to obey most of the same road rules as motorists and can be fined for not doing so. Generally speaking, though, ...

It would be interesting to ask your relative about the % of bike-related claims compared to car-related claims that are dealt with in any given year - as well as the overall $value of those claims. I can certainly do that, but I already know the number of claims for bike-caused injuries is far fewe...

Folks, this has been on the one hand an interesting discussion, but on the other hand somewhat frustratingly similar to all other car vs bike arguments. I can see merit with various points on both sides of the debate. As always, I think Rev makes some good points, but mate you need to realise that a...

So if at 40kmh only 25% of pedestrians will die, why don't we just slow cars down to walking pace? That is just hyperbole. Not an argument against the premise. The premise is that in situations where a collision with a pedestrian occurs, either because someone wasn't looking where they were going (...

Good news. I'd be interested to know how Alice Springs Airport might rank on such a measure. The majority of long-term parking there is undercover -- all of which is covered with solar panels. I'm told the Airport often produces more power than it needs. http://www.alicespringsairport.com.au/newsroo...
