[PRO] Re: #APP: Masonic Lodge | 60m | 17lvls | Residential
In case there's any remaining doubt, I heard from Nick Tridente, the architect, that it will in fact be corten steel. Should be quite iconic, especially given that there are very few buildings like this in Australia, or anywhere else! No info at their website unfortunately... http://www.tridente.com...

[PRO] Re: #APP: Masonic Lodge | 60m | 17lvls | Residential
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the existing Freemason's building is ugly? I think it's a shame that it has been heritage listed, and the conspiracy theorist in me suspects that Freemasonry connections among the 'powers that be' have managed to save it long past its use-by date....

Re: SA Regional Projects Guide (As of 21/01/08)
I've heard that there's money coming through for redevelopment of the Berri Hospital. Anyone heard confirmation of that? Also, there's going to be a new community dental clinic built at UniSA in Whyalla. Not a big development by Whyalla's current standards, but one that doesn't involve mining or sho...

Re: Port Pirie
This is a development of sorts, but not in the physical sense, just in terms of news: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/08/19/2339668.htm?site=hobart The owner of the Port Pirie smelter in South Australia has announced it is considering shifting the plant's zinc operations to Tasmania. More th...

Re: Railyards Site Redevelopment
This site should be reserved for a world class attraction for Adelaide such as a Guggenheim museum! We already have enough parklands. In fact even Col. Light’s original plans for Adelaide do not designate the RAH site as parklands but as ‘Hospital’. Thus even Col. Light did not intend for the...

Re: Finally, the Liberal's "Vision of the Future" document
Have to say that I agree monotonehell . Completely. I think the hospital should be moved to a new location, perhaps not the railyards, but to try to rebuild the RAH in situe' is an expensive and inconvenient folly. Absolutely. Anyone who thinks redevelopment is an ooption learly hasn't been to the R...

Re: The O-bahn
I'm a regular user of the O-bahn, and I think it's fantastic. If it were replaced by a rail system, I suspect there'd be a lot of congestion at either end of any track as commuters changeover to cars or buses to go on. THe beauty of the O-bahn, as already stated by other posters, is it's ability to ...

Re: Railyards Site Redevelopment
The Tasmanian government is showing that you can have BOTH a hospital and an entertainment precinct at a waterfront location." Good point. The idea of a major hospital within a community precinct with housing, entertainment, open space... Sounds great. Wth all the difficulty we have recruiting...
