Did anyone see the alternate JPE design? I don't mind the approved plan, but I reckon the alternative would have looked great.

Definitely should have been another 10+ levels. Not on my river torrens. We don't want adelaide looking like this dogs breakfast : What's wrong with this? Looks great Maybe its the filthy looking river, or maybe its the over development of the riverbank that ghs alludes to. Either way its never don...

Not sure of the inside, but they butchered the outside pretty badly. I am fairly certain the verandah was still intact before they started construction.

It sounds like they have gotten rid of pretty much the only redeeming feature- too bad they didn't reduce it by another 50 metres.

I suspect I might be in an overwhelming minority here, but I actually prefer Adelaidean to Realm. I like the treatment of the balconies a lot better, and as I said in an earlier post when viewed from a distance (ie North Adelaide looking back at the city) it looks fantastic. Both Adelaidean and Real...

Alterations and additions to a State Heritage Place and a multistorey student accommodation tower. And there it is. No surprise really. the thing with these types of building is they have almost always been of poor design and cater to a large amount of people in a small space who are there temporar...

Nice photos. I'm not the biggest fan of Adelaidean once you are up close, but when viewed form a distance I think it looks great.

Photos from adelaidenow show that demolition of the structure started at about 8:30am today. IMO a wasted opportunity to create something unique and draw in visitors. It is an interesting one. If I was relying solely on the photos of the Shed that get shown online then I would probably be of the vi...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
Adelaide has some great modernist (I guess this one is deco?) and brutalist buildings, which sadly are a bit unappreciated compared to the 19th century ones. Funny you should say so, as the ABC has just posted an article about that very fact. Good read: 'Adelaide's brutalist architecture celebrated...

Yep, agreed. About 15-20 metres more height and a tad less bulk and this would be improved immensely. Even so, I like it and as I said a while back- we dodged a bullet by not going with any of those alternative design concepts.

Thanks for posting. Provides a good little time lapse of the final stages of the Gray Street student accommodation as well.

And part of the article that most will be interestedi n: Mr Jarman said Flagship was in discussions with Watpac around how to treat the building’s blank western wall, which rises over the adjacent Federal Court building. “At the minimum there’s some work that we can do around its continuity,” he sa...

This was approved. They were happy for the heritage facade to be demolished if they include a plaque or artwork to commemorate the buildings history... Either it is heritage and you keep it, or it is not and you demolish it. Putting a plaque up is such a ridiculous gesture and very symbolic of the ...
