Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
Thanks - I thought so. My mum was wrong! I remember Target Supermarkets though - there was even one at Marion. From memory, they were sold off when Myer ran into financial difficulties in the 80's (before they merged with Coles) and the SA stores (I think there were 6?) were bought by Independent Gr...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
I was talking to my mum tonight about cumberland park and she was very insistent that Woolworths haven't always occupied the supermarket at the site.
She remembers Target Supermarket tarding there but I doubt this.
Anyone else have an opinion?

Anyone know an opening date?

Re: New Retail in the CBD
I think a cinema complex on the top floor of the Myer Centre would be fantastic. They did a similiar development on the top floor of the Melbourne Central complex when the Daimaru department store moved out a few years back & it's very successful. Cinemas are always busy and there's surrounding ...

Re: COM/PRO: Glenelg Ent Complex (Beachhouse & Water World)
I agree with Crawf that Greenhills adventure park should be developed into a fully fledged theme park / waterpark, and I also think it should have hotel accommodation (a bit like sea world on the gold coast). Perfect location, and it's unlikely any nimbys would get in its way there. Nice idea, but ...

Centro Colonades
Does anyone have any news on the about to begin addition of a Harris Scarfe home store to Centro Colonades?
Is it part of a redevelopment of the centre, or are they taking over the lease of a vacant store - maybe Cheap as Chips?

Re: Old David Jones & John Martins photos?
I agree with your comments Adelaidian. I also have very fond memories of visiting Rundle Mall when I was young in the 70's and 80's. Although both Myer & Johnnies were both at my local shopping centre (Marion) the city stores were always great to explore - especially the big toy department at Jo...

I guess it makes sense to have the tenancies available coming into summer - peak season at the bay.Ben wrote:Yes it is now under construction. Funnily enough the sign on site said retail tenancies avialable from September 2012. they must be keen to get a move on with this one.

[COM] Re: #APP: Centro Arndale Redevelopment - $35m
Source was a stockbroker retail sector research analyst. Their view is that DJ's will close 2 stores within the next 3 years - West Lakes plus Macarthur Square in NSW. Macarthur Square is a given - as this was one of the stores they offloaded to Harris Scarfe and then had to take back when they went...

[COM] Re: #APP: Centro Arndale Redevelopment - $35m
Arndale struggles from a sales point of view - not sure what it's MAT would be, but I am guessing no where near what West Lakes is. in my view, it is the worst of Adelaide's 6 regional shopping centres, and just isn't in the same league as the other 5. The Harris Scarfe store there trades very poorl...

Like others I have great memories of that Huge Toy department from back in the day, as well as the lego world expos and other toy exhibitions. I had forgotten about the lego world expos until I read your post. I used to love the expos when I was young - lining up for what seemed like forever to get...

[U/C] Re: #COM: Burnside Village Redevelopment - $107 million
David Jones are planning on opening smaller format stores across the country which will be modelled on Perth's Claremont Quarter store. These stores will be under 7,000 sqm. So it's got me thinking.. sure Burnside has Australia's largest Zara store, CK Jeans, Oxford and a host of other upmarket bra...

The SA sites were purchased by On The Run.
The site opposite Harbour Town has already been rebranded & as far as I know won't be closing.
