Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Just got my first look at the new Foodland. Not impressed at all that the building still has signs from the early 90s saying "Citi Centre Arcade", and on the entrance doors the signs are new and read "Rundle Square". It's just lazy. As for actual supermarket, not too bad and wil...

[PRO] Re: 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket
Drove past on Anzac Highway yesterday. The whole front facade has been completely removed and the building is unrecognisable. I'd say once they have completed any further necessary preparatory work full demolition will be very fast, as it's basically just a shed without the facade. Seems a bit odd t...

[COM] Re: Vicinity Colonnades (Extension) | $52m
Looks good, but one thing I hate is when shopping centres do multiple refurbishments in different styles. Given that Colonnades recently built an extension (Aldi mall) I would like to believe that this and hopefully subsequent upgrades will be to make the rest of the centre match the style of the Al...

[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m
Ok well to clear up any confusion, it was called Westfield Kilkenny when Westfield first purchased it, but Westfield noticed most customers still called it Arndale, so once the Arndale company was no longer in business Westfield adopted the name!
The subsequent owners since have kept the name too!

[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m
I now just happen to live very close to one of the other Australian Arndale centres, at Springwood, Queensland.
That one is still called Arndale (just "Arndale", no prefix or suffix), and is now owned by a company called Retail First.
I'm glad it's not called Retail First Arndale!

[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m
The Arndale company built shopping centres all over the UK, and 4 in Australia. There were two in SA. Kilkenny, and Oaklands Park. The one in Oaklands Park was also sold to Westfield and it still is owned by Westfield now. Interestingly it's not called Westfield Arndale. I suppose they could have ca...

Not sure if it has been mentioned but I have it on very good authority that Kaufland will be taking space as part of this development. Given that there's already a Coles and Woolworths in Westfield next door, and a new Foodland will definitely be built on part of the stadium site, as well as a libr...

This is a mall directory from towards the end of the time Arndale was owned by Westfield.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
Don't quote me on this, but I heard a rumour from someone who works at Wooldworths that because of this new Foodland, they won't be renewing their lease in the mall at the end of this year (or next year) whenever it is up for renewal. This would fall in line with comments made about the Wooldworths...
