Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Let's hope the station upgrades include pedestrian upgrades. Every station should have at least four entrances, one on each corner. The fewer entrances each station has, the longer it takes to walk to the platform and the fewer people take public transport. It doesn't matter how flashy the stations ...

DIT have just released a Community Survey, including high level project maps for the tunnel entrances & exits on their website, along with details of project displays at venues along the corridor: https://dit.sa.gov.au/nsc/torrens_to_darlington/project_updates/community_survey https://dit.sa.go...

Apparently R2P is several months ahead of schedule. hopefully all the experience gained from all the recent projects using prefab bridge spans will flow on to level crossing removals It would be great to see level crossing removals addressed around Adelaide, like you say there's a lot of recent exp...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
Following the failed attempt at Bus Network reform by the Government mid last year, does anyone know what the plans are for future Bus Network reform? There seems to have been no mention of the SA Public Transport Authority (SAPTA) of late. Or is it a case of waiting until after the March 2022 Stat...

You can find the ideas in here: https://dpti.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/625951/GlobeLink_Scoping_Study_Report_Business_Case.pdf It's known as 'Short North'. Many members of this forum believe in a tunnel under Cross Road, directly connecting the South-Eastern Freeway to the North-South M...

Re: Cheap Airport O-Bahn
1NEEDS2POST not sure if you received a private message sent to you back on November 22, 2020. Did some quick concept drawings (cross sections) of light rail to the airport using the Keswick Creek drain, which I've been advocating for many years. I took a long break, I've been meaning to come back t...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
I imagine the modifications to create a "trackless tram" from a normal bus are at least as significant as to make an O-bahn bus. The O'bahn corridor would not be suitable for a "conventional busway" as the track would not be wide enough without some kind of automatic guide. Fair...

Re: Tunnel under the airport ASAP!
Too bad you didn't measure the depth! Neither did you. It looks deep enough from Google Streetview. drain.png Even if it needs to be lowered, that's still much cheaper than buying up neighbouring properties or building a tunnel. I suggest you delete the new thread. You seem like a nice person to be...

Re: Tunnel under the airport ASAP!
New plan to make it even cheaper! It's in this new thread. https://www.sensational-adelaide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7194 1NEEDS2POST, It's a lot smaller than you seem to think it is! Two O-Bahn tracks plus clearances comes out to 6 m wide. I've measured the width of the drain on Google Ea...

Cheap Airport O-Bahn
Adelaide doesn't have a dedicated public transport corridor from the airport to the city. Fortunately, there is a corridor used for a drain that goes between the airport and Mile End. This drain can fit a cheap O-Bahn that takes buses from the city to the airport, bypassing all of the traffic. Keswi...

Years ago, there were plans for a southern suburbs O-Bahn. Well, this motorway is just as good! What are the plans for bus routes to use the motorway? This could drastically speed up bus routes from the southern suburbs, such as Aberfoyle Park and Morphett Vale. At the moment, those bus rou...

Re: Tunnel under the airport ASAP!
Another totally different idea: instead of a tunnel, we could have a lowered O-Bahn along Keswick Creek. An O-bahn that floods every time it rains??? Yes  It rarely fills up and when we do get heavy rain, just don't use the O-Bahn track, send the buses along Sir Donald Bradman Drive. That's w...

How is the setup at Emerson going to work, given that the support pylons of the current overpass are in the way of the tunnel, unless the tunnels deviate to the left or right of the structure? Also it rules out any railway underpass or overpass, so that's just bungling any chance of a grade seperat...

West Lakes Boulevard was built in the 70's with the intention of a train line going down the middle.....yes a heavy rail line (extension of the Hendon branch) However the property developer objected at the time saying "that sort of development would bring the wrong sort of people to West Lakes...
