And, but of course, it is Anne and George.

There's existing malls half vacated, because tenants have gone out of business. A new mall across from Disneyland (Garden Walk) has only been able to attract tenants to about a third of its floorspace. Today I've visited various strip, indoor and outdoor malls (about 7 in all) in about 5 different ...

We want the kids to be settled in one place and not have to move them to different schools all the time. Adelaide is just the perfect place for raising a young family. Agreed! We won't be moving our kids' schools again. I'm really looking forward to my kids getting back home, and our eldest, in par...

Thanks anna. yeah it's gonna be a pain in the backside but worth it. Canberra is such a dump of a place. The novelty of being here wore out after the first month. Adelaide has so much more, it's just the right size. Here we are stuck on ADSL1, the TV programming is crap (mainly referring to sport) ...

^ Shuz, that reminds me of a passage I just saw on the back of a book George is reading, ( The Architecture of Happiness , by Alain de Botton), "We owe it to the fields that our houses will not be the inferiors of the virgin land they have replaced" Amen to that! What is the "little b...

Thanks wayno, I can just imagine walking through marion or the mall and saying to the mrs, hey that wasn't there before we left or that's changed or what used to be there where that vacant land is. I will get to walk along the beach at Brighton and enjoy a beer on the esplanade just as summer start...

yes, the brickwork does look nice. I was surprised to see bricks in use as the US West coast typically uses more 'flexible' styles of construction product due to the proximity of the St Andreas fault line. Seems Portland may just be far enough north to miss most of the earthquake activity. Portland...

I get a monthly newsletter from Liveinaustralia.com as I did some preliminary work on potentially moving there earlier in the year. Now I get regular propaganda. :) Anyway, this month they had a little blurb that I thought you folks would be interested in: What you said last month: Where would you ...

I don't think I'm a fan of this building, though I guess I should wait to see it in person..
On the bottom it looks about as friendly as a KGB facility, and on the top it looks like a boiled lolly. Curious. I guess it sort of fits in with the candy striped Optus House though

That was interesting, thank you olliepee. I'm intrigued by the idea we could be proud, instead of embarrassed, to have our shops closed over Easter. I like the notion that we could confidently just do our own thing, without worrying over what the eastern seaboard does or thinks. Who was it that once...

http://www.tafe.sa.edu.au/Default.aspx?tabid=853 They offer Advanced Diploma of Arts in Acting, Bachelor of Dance Performance, both fully accredited. Sure they might not have the prestige of RADA (UK) or NIDA (NSW), but you can't win that kind of prestige by throwing money at it. That's due to snob...

I confess I don't know much about this subject, but I have sometimes wondered why SA does not invest more in the performing arts, considering our festivals are top rate. We have the BA program in drama at Flinders, but it doesn't seem to have that much of a profile (not amongst the general public, a...

After seeing the Pearl District in Portland a couple of weeks ago (a TOD in Portland maybe a little closer to the CBD than, say, Mile End is in Adelaide), I'm quite excited by what the article says because what they describe for Bowden Village reminds me of what I saw in the Pearl District. The Pear...
