Re: Article: Tour goes global

I am honestly sad to see the coverage of the event not on air on national television for the entire tour. But we cannot forget the fact that at the time of the tour, Test Cricket and Australian Open was on, all at the same time. :wank: :wank: :wank: And am I right that the city round this year has ...

Re: Republic of Australia?

She and whoever followers after her, has the ability and the capacity to change any aspect of our rule. That is the point im arguing! Whether they choose to or not is a different argument. Under the likes of The Australia Act and our constitution, all the monarch can do is, dismiss the government a...

Re: Republic of Australia?

QEII's position is one as a reigning monarch, not a ruling one - one with powers exercised almost entirely under the influence of the Prime Minister and the Ministers of the Crown in Cabinet. Whilst that may be true, fact is that on paper we are not entirely a free state. She and whoever followers ...

Re: Republic of Australia?

I hope we all realise that past changes to the Constitution of Australia mean that we have full sovereignty and independence. Yes the Australia Act of 1986 does argue for full sovereignty however under article s.74 of the Constitution the Queen and the GG resolve the right to overturn any decision....

Re: SouthBank- Torrens

I've always thought they could Widen and Deepen the Torrens, and maybe let some sort of Boats use it? Maybe a Mini Marina? I love that idea...but do you honestly think the greenies/nimbies will allow it to happen???? You have only got to read and listen to the furore created with the dredging of th...

Re: Republic of Australia?

No way. Why? For me its a number of reasons. One, there is the historical links. The UK is effectively our mother, they founded this country. We fought under the British Empire, 'God Save the King', 'Till the last man and the last penny'. 'Victoria', 'Queensland', 'Adelaide', 'QEHosipital', 'Prince...

[COM] Re: What next for Victoria Square?

I agree. The time is right to finally do something. However the Central Market traders have already voiced their opposition to the idea believing that amending the current design will somehow lead to a decline in business. What a load of shit! it would only increase business due to an increase in t...

Re: Heath Ledger Dies

Recently watching a Jon Bon Jovi interview.. where he talks about how he feels about stars who are throwing their lives away. Jon Bon Jovi has been at the top of his game for nearly three decades now.. but has pretty much remained scandal free, and keeps a pretty private life and enjoys a good fami...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

The Rann Government could have coordinated a plan for South Road better, by announcing an overall plan first and then committing to different stages over a period of time, rather than doing one project at a time without stringing them together and then committing to the next. There would need to be...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

Because its not there yet but thats what they want to aim for in the long term.. Duh! No need for the DUH!!! comment What im stating is that never have really highlighted that it is a staged project with the overall goal is to make it non-stop! All you here about is the 3 underpasses! It would be n...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

IMHO...if you want to minimise the impact of the overpass onto the houses that are on either side of the track and to blend in with the environment around the tram line wouldn't it be better and possibly cheaper to make it an underpass instead??? In a more general concern i have. The overall goal at...

Re: Ideas on how to attract more people to SA?

Here are my ideas of how to attact more people to SA 1. design a clean and attractive, safe and green place to live the life that they want to lead. 2. put mechanisms in place that will allow individuals to grow professionally and personally, and raise a family 3. put mechanisms in place to create a...
