Re: Little ideas for a big city
Not that little, but move the Governor of SA into a mansion in North Adelaide. tear down all the walls around government house, make it into a park. With government house either becoming a mueseum or just a function place for important meeting (of government or private business). Would cost very lit...

[COM] Re: U/C: Rundle Place Ben/Adel Bank, Harris Scarfe, Coles 72
This developement is huge, especially when your up close to it. Can't wait till its all finished.
The sad thing at the moment is that theres so much cladding up all over the mall as there renovating/rebuilding & constructing new buildings. Short term pain, long term gain I guess though.

Re: #Proposed - Castle Plaza redevelopment
Is this one of those developements where by Woolworths (through a subsiduary) buys the land, redevelopes it, installs woolworths tenants, then sells it back to the owner/new buyer?
They do that alot these days (I think wesfarmers does it as well, but not to the scale of Woolies).

Re: News: Adelaide City Council
Sorry just to clarify, is it the council who has taken these loons (preachers) to the courts? This situation HAS to be dealt with before december. Its going to undo alot of the work the council and Rundle management have done in advertising and building up the reputation of the mall. Might as well j...

[COM] Re: Proposed: Westfield West Lakes extension
Hi guys, im doing some ground work for work (wait what), and would like to know the peoples feelings towards Westfield west lakes at the moment. I'd also like to know peoples general feelings towards the level 1 area, with JB HI FI, Rebel , readings and the other stores up there. Lastly, as a subjec...

Re: News: Adelaide City Council
There is NOTHING enriching about three middle aged blokes with megaphones telling you your going to hell if your a homosexual, liar, fornicator, non-beliver. Holding up stupid signs. The mall is a social place, a place to shop. Its the freaking premier shopping area of this state and these guys (and...

Re: News: Adelaide City Council
The street preachers are emptying the shops all around them. Something, anything, needs to be done to get rid of them. It's sad that their actions are offending alot of people, but also affecting the livelyhood of some small business owners as well. One idea I like is to pay techno man to busk next ...

Re: #Proposed - Castle Plaza redevelopment
As I said in the Marion thread, I just can't see any huge upgrades of existing shopping centres going ahead for atleast a few more years, or until the current retail environment changes. Many retailers are closing stores, not opening, Especially is existing centres that at best produce average sales!

[PRO] Re: #ONH: Westfield Marion Expansion | $280m | 150,000sqm
Maybe a list of 300 companies expressing interest. I would imagine that list was gathered some years ago also. Retail is in the pits at the moment, increasing wages & increasing rents (5% pa factored into most Westfield contracts) and declining sales = uh oh. Another year of the current retail e...

Re: #Proposed - Castle Plaza redevelopment
Every shopping centre has their plans for their big shiny new mall. I can't help but be cynical for most, they are used to keep unhappy tenants optimistic about the future more than anything. 'just wait a few years, when we complete the next stage things will improve'. From what I've heard castle pl...

Re: New Retail in the CBD
Borders were paying around $25,000 a week for that site. The owners seem to think they will be able to get that sort of rent again. Not in this retail environment! (unless high end fashion?)

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment Thread - Now Includes Poll!
SkyCity are just doing their DD in regards to the pokies & tax review. SkyCity have pointed out that Adelaide offers the greatest potential returns in regards to redevelopement. They have actively searched for a new location for some time now. The casino upgrade WILL go ahead, however I would im...

A little off topic, but out north which centre is bigger/better out of Elizabeth & Munno Para? Is Parabanks positioning itself as the third big centre out north?
