Re: News & Discussion: Buses

This thread slowed down a few months ago, but 'm just catching up... The conversation appears to be predicated on most journeys starting near (potential) railway stations and ending at the CBD. Does anyone have any statistics on what percentage of jobs in the Adelaide metro area are in the CBD, and...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Have you got any justification as to why electrification should be priority number 1? My justification is living in the real world......and getting the "biggest bang" out of your transport money. Yes trams would probably increase anywhere development potential anywhere they were built...i...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Electrification of the Gawler and Outer harbor train line lines should be priority number 1 for any future funding from the federal government. Grade separation and new train stations on the entire network should be priority number 2. New tram lines are just "pie-in-the-sky" sort of stuff...

[COM] Re: PRO: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b

IIRC current modelling showed that the freight rail line wasn't needed for the next 30-50 years. I think you will find that this refers to a different project. A study was done to see whether it was worth diverting the freight line away from the hills, crossing the range somewhere near Kapunda, and...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

Why didn't they just scrap the road component of the plan but leave the option for the tram to run through instead? Makes no sense to me.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Internationally, and within Australia the standard speed limit within tunnels is 80km/h. This even goes for Autobahans in Europe. This section of South Road being in a trench, is basically a tunnel without a roof, so 80km/h would be to be expected. The expected volume of traffic would also bring th...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

Caught a train from town as far as Smithfield on Saturday afternoon. Then was on the exact train the next morning when that fatal incident happened at Greenfields. Long story short: Gawler line electrification >>>>>>> a little O-Bahn tunnel. Electrification is sorely needed. Could you please explai...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

What you guys are forgetting is that the remaining Unelectrified lines will gain 22 diesel train consists that will boost the capacity and frequency of these lines.

What a stupid piece of journalism. Who cares that a few prices of cladding, some plants and a few steps are missing. The important thing is that people can use the bridge.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport

Adian you can't put 4 cars on each train and run them at 15 minute intervals. There is not a infinite number of railcars. I'm sure the Rail Commissioner did their best to cater for the demand the best they could. It people weren't so selfish they could wait for the next train and maybe it won't be s...
