Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I heard from someone who works in rail in the east that some big tenders have recently gone out for a major rail project in Adelaide, I'm led believe it's the Brighton grade separation project

Is it a stalking horse for something bigger? If they added the non-heritage red brick next door they'd double the floor size, but no point in buying if no one will let them build over 6 levels

Didn't that situation play out between Realm and Crown Plaza? 207 Pulteney has the advantage in that they could go taller if they wanted to because the airspace height limit regulations are marginally higher there whereas Masonic Lodge has gone has high as it can possibly go. Dunno about those two,...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
I for one would like the rest of Torrens Island to be closed down so that the area can be remediated, added to the International Bird Sanctuary, and given a small car park and some walking trails to safely roam the sanctuary and visit the historic site without a boat. With just the battery there'd b...

Tenants moving in in July. It seems that this building won't be large enough to accommodate all the different teams and departments that were planned to occupy it. Isn't it more that the amount of space Services Australia agreed to rent isn't big enough? As I recall a third of the building was bein...

From what I’ve heard they are having trouble getting construction funding because of low sales. It’s hearsay but from a fairly reliable source. I find this surprising, considering the current state of the housing market (demand far outstripping supply), and the severe shortage of comparable project...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
If there are any of these left, they need to be removed immediately. This was 20 years ago. It would only be less unsightly today. Woodlands Park does, personally used it last football season after accidentally getting on a train that was express to there, because for some reason on a Saturday nigh...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
How many assaults have happened along the sunken rail station at Bowden? Bowden and Oaklands aren't just underground tunnels though, they're entire stations with big and expansive spaces that are easy to cover with lights and CCTV that can't easily be taken out of action by taggers or worse. I'm a ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Many of the old stations had grade separated pedestrian crossings either above or below the railway. Now those are not being built? It seems like a step backwards. Anecdotally, I think this has something to do with concerns about pedestrian underpasses like the ones at Goodwood, Mile End etc being ...

He can reccomend it all he likes, it's not going to happen. It's not like the idea never occurred to previous governments, the problem is there's no profit in it because everyone will just drive on the existing parallel roads to save a buck, so a private operator won't take it on. I know someone wh...

They're now up to 3 lanes out of commission at Darlington northbound (2 isolated by conrete barriers for workers and contruction vehicles, one coned off to keep people off the conrete fence), and they have ripped out almost every concrete panel between the rail bridge and Sturt Rd, including the on...
