Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
It's bizarre, the 300 misses Henley now but they add more of a dog leg in West Beach. It's all just weird, half the night buses are gone. Lot's of routes gone, some routes that should be a Go Zone are only "connectors" - removing multiple routes and replacing them all with a "connecto...

There's extra width available at the old brickworks, I think a tunnel portal there until James Congdon Drive. A cheaper section from James Congdon to Anzac Highway, to get back some of the tunnel costs. The tunnel would be 3km and the cheaper next section 1.5km. A lot of properties would need to go ...

[REJ] Re: Glenburnie Tce and Gray St., Plympton
The block is probably too small, not sure what number it is but 1 Glenburnie Tce is an odd shape and 1000sqm and number 2 is a rectangle but only 680sqm The street is also narrow and lacks on street parking. It looks too bulky for the site.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Would be pretty easy to turn Grenfell Street into a nice tree lined bus street, you would need to allow cars to travel east though for the Rundle Place carpark. You could remove the parking / bus stop lane from each side, which would make the footpath 3m wider and plant some trees and than there's o...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
The blue line would work well with a city tram loop. Adelaide's CBD (postcode 5000) is huge compare it to Melbourne. Melbourne is about 1.8 x 0.9km (plus the triangle bit at the top) Adelaide is 1.6km from North to South Terrace and South Terrace is 2.6km long. Adelaide is 1.6 x 2.6km, we need a tra...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
The underground line (and above ground section) is actually a loop, Adelaide Showground to Adelaide Showground via the underground stations and Mile End. But the underground city line, will be mainly used to connect the Seaford and Gawler lines, it can be used to loop Gawler to Gawler and Seaford to...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
The Bank Street Station would be accessed by Bank Street and ARS. You would need to make a hard left to make the underground line line up under the current ARS, having it diagonally under Bank Street with an entrance near Hindley Street and one that connects with the platforms at ARS. People would k...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What I've heard is three underground city stations, one under North Tce (under the current station - Bank Street most likely) East End around Hindmarsh Square and one under Victoria Square. It's a 1km walk from Bank Street to Hindmarsh Square. A fourth station at Hutt Street would be nice. With thre...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
$175M is buying 15 x 3 carriage trains - seating capacity of 240 each and $120M buys you 20 x trams at a seating capacity of 64 each. You want to run an Outer Harbor tram line and add spurs to West Lakes and Semaphore and only buy 20 trams. Grange and Outer Harbor run a combined 8 trains an hour in ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
How can a tram with a capacity of 150 people do the job of a train that has the capacity of 500 people? (1000+ if you use 6 car trains, crush load is 1500 per 6 carriage Comeng train in Melbourne). The Seaford line has 9 trains an hour in peak direction, so a capacity of 4500 people, thats 30 trams ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Whats the point of getting rid of stations anyway? The train is there to service the community, why does someone in a low density outer suburb deserve a train station but someone in a medium density middle suburb doesn't. Yes some stations can be amalgamated. We should be building higher density hou...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Coromandel Station is pretty busy. I used to get on at Glenalta which would have 3 people, Coromandel would have 20 people getting on. Coromandel is easier for a lot locals to access than Blackwood. Why would you close Coromandel and leave Millswood? Close Marino and Marino Rocks and build a new Mar...

Bi-Lo was pretty impressive, it had small stores eg Glenelg East and Mega Frrresh (lol) stores which some had interactive areas with buttons that made noises lol - I remember the Doncaster Bi-Lo had a button that made moo noises lol, pretty sure Greenacres Coles had these for a while after conversio...

[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m
Was Coles originally Bi-Lo? It feels like an old Bi-lo. I wasn't in SA when Bi-Lo was discontinued and most turned into Coles. I only know one ex Bi-Lo that was never a Coles, a lot become Coles and closed though. The store I know is Brighton, was a Bi-Lo, Romeos IGA, Foodworks and a Woolworths - no...
