Re: #Official Defence Thread

Edinburgh is the home of the RAAFs Maritime and Strategic Surveillance wing, which is currently our P-8 Poseidon squadron, the last remaining AP-3C Orions awaiting retirement, and in the future our MQ-4 Triton drone squadron, and MC-55A Peregrine SIGINT/ELINT squadron. Edinburgh has been the home f...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

They can lease US subs, which has already been mentioned as a possibility. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. Submarines aren’t normally available for rent lol. If the US rented submarines to Australia, then the US would have a capability gap ! It seems that we have keyboard warr...

Proceeding to tender is a pretty good indicator the developer intends to proceed with construction and that they believe they have sufficient sales and financing. I was thinking this too. Only (recent) projects I can recall going to tender and not (yet) being built are the student tower on Twin Str...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

Theyre not going to build conventional subs while building nuclear powered subs. The Collins class are one of the best defence assets that Australia has. You can’t have a period of about 10 years where we don’t have any submarines. Assuming that the nuclear subs enter service in say 2042 and the Co...

Federal election 2022

China is now looking to setup a military base in the Solomon Islands. Our relationship with China is poor. If Labor win the election then Xi Jinping could blow our country to smithereens over the next few years. We need Scotty to win the election because he will invest in the defence capability requ...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

Here we go... This is the beginning of a huge bonanza for South Australia, especially if Scotty gets over the line in May ! These nuclear submarines are going to cost a fortune, I would estimate they are going to cost a lazy $200 billion to build. And then once in service you’re looking at another $...

Seriously enough with the bullshit absurd commentary.
Can you please tell me where on this website does it say that a crane needs to be involved in construction activity in order
to be included in the count?

Re: Crane Counter: CBD 12 | Metro 3 | Total 1

Nope it’s just a crane set up in the Titan Cranes yard. Not exactly sure why, but it’s not for any new construction activity. Correct me if I am wrong but there is no requirement for a crane to be involved in construction activity in order for it to be included in the crane count. So really count s...

Re: SA State Election 2022

I hope Mali brings back Jay Weatherill's Light Rail network vision. Easily was one of the best ideas up there with the North-South Motorway. Surely both can exist. Lets hope that Mali doesn’t get any ideas from Jay Weatherill in terms of keeping the Electricity supply stable lol Are you going to pa...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

"Brother", they're building a maintenance & modification facility for the Poseidons and Wedgetails, and other high tech surveillance aircraft at Edinburgh. It has nothing to do with the flooding. No 1 Squadron is based at Amberley. Its made up of Super Hornets. No 6 squadron with the ...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

You actually think they're moving the Wedgetails here because of floods? Why aren't they moving the Hornets and F35's here then? Or the majority of all assets for that matter. Brother, if the wedgetails are not being moved due to flooding concerns, then why are they being re-located? The hornets wh...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

I'm no defence expert, but I think it is normal for the first 1 or 2 units to be built overseas to train the Australian-based laborers, after which production moves to Australia for the rest of the fleet. I am not aware of any defence programs where this has occurred, it’s much easier to build an e...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

There will continue to be ship/submarine work done in SA because the facilities are already established, so it doesn't matter if the government is Labor or Liberal. Labor doesn’t like to spend on defence. In 2012-2013 defence spending dropped to its lowest level since 1938 under labor. If Scotty wi...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

SBD, minor maintenance is already undertaken in WA.

Tom K is just playing politics. There will be no shortage of defence work undertaken in SA over the next twenty years.

I believe that if liberal stay in power then we are on the brink of a golden period in terms of defence in SA.
