If the ADL university redevelopment happens, north terrace will be quite the place for some great design.
That seems unlikely, last year Adelaide Uni comprehensively shelved any infrastructure development for the next 5-10 years, aside from urgent maintenance.

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

I spoke to one of the lads out the front yesterday. That step out in the soil isn't for the tent to sit, but the location of more contaminated soil. Apparently there were some tanks in that location. makes sense, I guess that's why the tent has to be located on that spot. Did they say anything abou...

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

I was wondering why the excavation work along the southern wall had a small kink in it - turns out it's so the tent can fit properly.

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

The piling rig has departed for now & the remaining excavation is moving along at a pretty quick pace.

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

Crane base is at the back left by the looks of it. It looks to be outside the future building footprint, so I'm assuming that eventually the concrete cube it's sitting on will be covered over by paving / landscaping when everything's complete. The piling rig has worked its way around the whole bound...

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

Nice photo. Does anyone know how long the screw on those rigs last? Can they be refurbished or do they become scrap once they have worn out? Where are they made? Are they a single piece top to bottom or are there several bits screwed together with a cutting point on the bottom? No idea about the lo...

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

it looks like some some rebar piling cages have appeared on the site (on the right hand side). A curious trench has also been dug around the North Terrace edge and filled with what look like foam blocks which are being cemented in place. A vibration suppression strategy maybe? https://i.imgur.com/vk...

[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

Definitely getting closer to the next construction phase. Even with the filling & leveling of the holes that were dug to remove contaminated soil etc, there's still a fairly large drop (about 5m) from the front of the site to the back corner, so there might not be much more re-excavation require...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

Also as alluded to earlier, the last time a stadium had moving parts they couldn't even lift a bunch of lightbulbs. But hey, let's go for a 120m * 70m football pitch  Tottenham has just built a brand new slide in / slide out pitch. It's made of three 30x100m segments and weighs just under 10,0...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

The 'new' South Rd / Grange Rd intersection occupies an area about 85m X 85m. A similar designed intersection at HBR won't quite fit with the existing road alignment if you want to preserve the Thebby & the school opposite, but if you shifted that bit of HBR south by 20-30m it'll fit much more e...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Yesterday afternoon there was a drilling rig set up in the wide median strip on the western side of South Rd at Hindmarsh (ie the bit separating South Road from the Brickworks shopping center). It could be there for core sampling etc.
