I was at Castle Plaza yesterday and a section of the car park near South Road has been fenced off. Nothing inside the fenced off area yet, but I am guessing some ATCO huts etc will arrive soon.
Maybe the redevelopment is about to begin?

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
On another note, whilst I don't enjoy or support fast-food eateries at all; I can't understand why McDonald's never thought to set up shop along Rundle Street somewhere... I can think of two locations that would be really suitable. One being where American Apparel are, the other where Bnkr is (the ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
But what about the one at Windsor Gardens where Bunnings (formerly Lloyd's) is still trading? This store is about to be demolished I think - to make way for a new Bunnings warehouse? The application involves the expansion of the existing Bunnings development to encompass the existing supermarket an...

Funny you should say that, as although I didn't use a trolley when I visited, I over heard someone else say to their companion the trolleys were bad.Waewick wrote:On a side note. How bad are the trolleys.

[COM] Re: Masters Adelaide Airport
I visited the store yesterday and was also not overly impressed. My observations are: It is less of a warehouse store than Bunnings, with air conditioning & polished cement floors. I have read this is to cater more for females. The hardware and gardening range is very limited. They have less sto...

[COM] Re: U/C: Westfield West Lakes Expansion | $95m
Well it's open and I've seen it. I am still amazed at how fast it all happened (once work finally started after God knows how many years of delays, as per usual). This time 12 months ago the site where the extension is was just a (free and easy to navigate) carpark. Now it's a mall! Anyway I must s...

[PRO] Re: APP: Westfield Marion Expansion | $350m
Marion was the last Mathers store in SA. I would suggest they closed it because the lease had expired and the store wasn't profitable. Due to ecomomies of scale it would be hard to make a single store in SA profitable. Based on what I have read, Fusion Brands (owner of Mathers) has been struggling f...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
So, they would essentially take the current floor-space leased to Amart, and floor-space leased to businesses bellow on the ground floor (one or two shop-fronts) and would join them together to create the one space for Zara. With potential for an extension above (a third floor, which from my unders...

Speaking of reminders of the old Harris Scarfe there's a feature wall on the top floor of the new Harris Scarfe showing lots of old photos and advertising. I think that's a really nice touch and certainly reminds you how far they've come! I noticed this and also thought it was great. A pity DJ's di...

[COM] Re: U/C: Westfield West Lakes Expansion | $95m
According to today's DJ's half yeary profit announcment West lakes store is under review as lease expires in 2015 and they are determining if they will renew. I always thought a Myer would be better suited to the area but this would leave Adelaide with only 2 David Jones stores. WA has 4 VIC 6 QLD ...

Re: U/C: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
I am a bit disappointed there won't be a mall and some specilaty shops.
Seems like lots of expense and effort just to get an enlarged Woolworth supermarket.

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
Thanks for the photos. I visited the site today - it is all progressing on nicely. Has anyone seen a floor plan? I am guessing it will be a L shape design, with Big W possibly at the southern end - above the underground car park? If so, looks like the shops at that end will have a wall in front of t...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
I visited Tamworth over 10 years ago and went shopping at Big W - there's a mall in front of ot now so doesn't look anything like it does in the photo.
Cumberland park must be 15 years or so behind Tamworth. Scary thought!

[COM] Re: PRO: [Plympton] Highway Inn | 8lvls | 34m | Hotel
In my opinion this site is long overdue for redevelopment and what is proposed should be fantastic. My only concerns are about traffic - as the intersection is already a bottleneck in peak hour. Plus, the sketches suggest cheap gawdy building design more suited to somewhere like Mawson Lakes. Do we ...
