Re: [] News: Adelaide City Council
I saw a statistic recently that Adelaide spends the least amount of money on cyclist infrastructure in comparison to every other capital in the country. Does anyone know if this is true?

Re: $35m for exhibition hall
Great pics Norman. I have to say, though it looks nice, I'm still very disappointed they did not retain or replicate the facade of Centenial Hall. I remember reading something before it was demolished that the new building was going to have a similar facade as a monument of what used to be there. Fr...

Haha sorry crawf. I changed my post a bit after you quoted it, not a big deal. Yea I guess it isn't that drab, but I certainly wouldn't say it has any sort of theme. I welcome modern striking buildings to help offset the beauty of the heritage ones and bring the area to life. Mediocre buildings tend...

Wont the enchroaching balconies benefit the footpath by adding some shelter for when you get caught in the rain? On another note, I'm so sick of people saying there is a theme for North Terrace. The northern side maybe but there is no theme for the southern side. It's drab, outdated and needs a comp...

Re: Tallest Skyscraper in the world almost completed
I like it, although I think something this grand/large, should have waited till the city was a little more developed. Look at all the empty land sitting around between pockets of towers. Looks ridiculous. And to think that 25% of the worlds total construction cranes are in Dubai. Is the rate of dev...

Re: Approved: Latitude (12lvl - 42m)
I 2nd Wayno. It's a great idea. I never even thought about the fact that the council is actually potentionally putting workers lives at risk. They are by not letting them close and street and forcing them to use more confined spaces. All because it might upset a few old people. I can't even picture ...

Re: [] CBD Development: General
Parklands Preservation Association president Jim Daly, whose group has been pushing for National Heritage Listing for the past 15 years, said: “This is excellent news and I think it’s the first step towards World Heritage Listing.” Hahaha, how ridiculous. This is beyond a joke. I wonder if Mr. Daly...

Re: Approved: Latitude (12lvl - 42m)
Yet another reason why these little small-minded councils need to be abolished. Bring on the super councils. And how damn selfish of that 86 year old woman. She's allowed to have her glenelg apartment (albeit in a senior citizen's home) and she's trying to disallow anyone else from owning one in the...

Re: Disappearing posts
Something similar happened to me yesterday actually. I received an email notifying me that someone had replied to the thread Howie set up a while ago about Trilogy Tower in Brisbane, though when I went to it, the last post was from June sometime. Very odd.

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
Where would they put Luna Park at Glenelg now that all those apartments are there? Oh yeaaah, I bloody well forgot about the apartment buildings. They aren't that bland are they? Sorry pushbutton, though Alton Towers looks like a beautiful place to visit I just really hate the idea of having a them...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?
I agree. However, I wouldn't discount the idea of an amusement park entirely. A small park, primarily for the entertainment of locals, is not an unreasonable proposition and I imagine something in the vein of the Luna Parks in Melbourne and Sydney, or from a city in a similar population scale, Grön...

Re: Adelaide to lose last CBD cinema complex
As I mentioned in the other thread ... somewhere on here... if you look up as you walk into the refurbished arcade you can see the old cinema ceiling above you. The new second level shops are the old cinema. There's even the pigeon holes that the projectors used to stick out f up on the front wall....

Just the thought of the ACC refusing either of these designs makes my blood boil. If design No.1 used a brass/gold coloured material I'd really love it but it looks like a yellow/mustard coloured material so in that case I'd rather design No.2 with the cool curve. This is exactly the 'bold a...

holy fk, i'm hoping that design 2 with the awesome curved front gets approved!!!! wouldn't be surprised if the council only approved the first design tho, and say that the second 'curved' design (like with 20-22 currie st) would cause the sun to reflect onto the footpath and blind people  Sad...
