When the superway was built, they built square abutments on the end as the plans for a northern connector at the point it opened were 6 years old

Given trains are currently running, it can't be an issue with the current signal controls, so it has to be a problem to do with the new control centre

They're moving train control from the beige building on North Tce to the rail yards at Wingfield(?). The problem is they have delayed it from this weekend to next weekend.

It's just an idea I had. I would imagine that a replacement for the 3000s would be sought within the next 10 years (the oldest are 31 years old this year)

Outer Harbor going through the loop would be hard, because where dos it go after? Can you run diesel trains through the tunnel? Belair (and Tonsley) would be the logical choice if all lines get electrified. You could easily run 20 tph in each direction so all trains could run through. The numbers a...

At the moment you wouldn't as there is no reason to duplicate that section of line.
I'd have to have another look, but I recall the viaduct is balanced on the middle of the pylons so changing the western side to rail wouldn't really affect anything

Looking at the design in the planning approval, I suspect the path could be removed and a second line added without rebuilding the bridge

Surprised to read on comments here some sections are 2 lanes only heading north? I really think this will bite them in the not too distant future.
