Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
Someone speculated to me the big former Gas works site on Chief St could suit a shopping centre/village.. anyone know if the master plan allows for it?

Wondering if the development approval isn’t extended (as requested) they may need to start work by a certain deadline or the approval may lapse altogether?

While I think a development should definitely go ahead I think it needs a complete re~design. The current proposal looks like the back end of a cruise ship. I am wondering if they could incorporate the facades of the existing buildings if they have any architectural merit (but not sure they do). Thi...

I agree. Was the extension ever approved? I am pretty sure I read that some councillors were opposed to granting it. Anyone know more?

I read the aim for the airport is for Richmond Rd to have a dedicated interchange for freight/taxis & Sir Don Bradman Drv to have an interchange for passenger vehicles.

The proposed development site (the area marked) was sold in one sale & didn't include those 2 other buildings ie they weren’t part of the Seawall apartments. I guess they could have tried to buy them separately but as they aren’t facing the water, I dont think it was really needed.

Ok generally thats fair but this is Govt/Crown land. I know Govt could give land leases (ie 99 years) but I expect financing is far harder and private companies more reluctant.

I think that the zoning goes down from 13 storeys to 5 storeys here... so they maybe were forced to do this to try to appease/get approval. I guess the worse alternative may have been just a 5 storey rectangular building.

Yes I have seen the plans/renders but the actual is looking far less appealing. I know landscaping is the final part so will wait to the end to judge it.

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
If it continues like this with no signs of trees/greenery (or any room for them) then it won’t be much improvement to the previous desolate Hajek plaza landscape.
