[COM] Re: 266 - 270 Pulteney Street | 44m | 11 Levels | Mixed Us
I'm kind of surprised. I thought this would be less controversial than the Pirie Street hotel, but that one gets the go-ahead to demolish a nice old facade as long as they put a plaque in. Meanwhile, this one is sent back. I recognise that this design is fairly mediocre, and heritage notwithstanding...

43.5m tall and a fair bit less controversial than the Pirie Street proposal.

Unlike previous proposals for the site, they want to demolish the heritage building.
I can't really get behind that. What are others' thoughts?

SCAP website says 28 storeys, which probably puts it at 100-110m. Good height, but not a new tallest. I'd say the design is more important. It's still tall enough to be prominent and the CBD is large enough that we aren't pressed for space yet. That said, it would be nice to see something noticeably...

Site has been cleared, but it doesn't seem like they're in a rush to start construction.

I'm pretty sure this is the last level of the podium? Interestingly, I don't think I've seen a lift core/jump form for this one, but I could be wrong.

Context shot. This one is pretty prominent in certain parts of the east of the CBD since there's not too much highrise around it (yet).

I'm going to go against popular opinion. I don't particularly like it at this stage. The "window pods" on the northern wall look random and abrupt, especially on the close up render. It looks a bit jarring in my opinion. The render makes the building look fairly sleek, but renders can be d...

It looks like once this is built, it'll look like it's already been a part of the skyline for at least the past 15 to 20 years. Kind of like the new North Terrace student apartments but blander. Even a more interesting roofline like its neighbours could do a lot for this building I feel. I suppose i...

Funny how developments can be so polarising. I don't mind this. I like the "crinkle cut" windows on the southern face. Adds a bit of uniqueness which distinguishes it from other boxes in Adelaide. The blank walls aren't ideal though. The GPO tower should at least block the eastern wall out...

Anywhere know about the parking for this one? Is it a ramp up (probably floors 2-6) and/or a stacker? It's a ramp, which will be accessed from Austin Street. The car park occupies levels 1-7. So this is 80 centimetres (or thereabouts) taller than Westpac House, yet the top of this building will be 3.4 metres lower? I'm assuming that Emporis for Westpac House and that elevation Nathan provided are accurate. It seems odd that in the relatively flat Adelaide CBD, there's 4.2 metres of varia...

Some good points in this article. I'd certainly like to see some of these old buildings on North Terrace and around the city either rebuilt or repurposed. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-07-27/is-it-time-to-implement-postcode-5000-in-adelaide/10039102 At 132.4 metres, it will be 40 centimetres tall...
