Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
OH MY GOD. I never liked Anne Moran but my opinion of her has now gone significantly downhill based on this morning's email conversation: My initial email: Dear Councillor Moran, I am writing to express my severe dismay about the news that Adelaide City Council is due to re-engineer the new Frome S...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
My conversation via email with Anne Moran just now: Me: It concerns me greatly that the progress seen in making Frome st, a place where active transport modes (walking, cycling) can be undertaken safely, is under attack by those who are blind to independent and validated evidence that the bike way a...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
I find it hilarious that the minority were lobbying to save a few trees. No doubt they all drive their cars everywhere or have caught a plane recently and are doing just as much damage to the environment. Cognitive dissonance writ large.

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
This paper puts the average distance traveled to work in the Adelaide area at a measly 12.4kms. I cycle 17kms each way to Mawson Lakes. I wonder what percentage of the 85% who take the private vehicle are choosing to drive for a distance of <8kms (easily cyclable)? http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
Why can't some of you just accept that we need both better/more public transport and better road infrastructure? No offence intended, but your attitudes and mentality are very similar to nimbys and appa members. I have no problem with better road infrastructure, so long as it is well researched, pl...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
So what does that say about our city vs others? It is way too easy/cheap to take the car into the cbd so why even consider another option?

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
Here is 5 minutes of the M2 motorway in Brisbane, they just spent 1 billion dollars in an attempt to ease congestion during peak hour. Looks like it did very little.

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
When you look at the facts and case studies of other cities who have built roads endlessly it is clear that more roads will = more demand from car users and more congestion: http://www.wired.com/2014/06/wuwt-traffic-induced-demand/ I completely agree with Llessur2002 in that diversifying modal trans...

https://media.licdn.com/mpr/mpr/p/6/005/077/37f/0bdb046.jpg You're dreaming if you think driverless cars will replace currernt vehicles in our life time, if ever. Why? Because the consumer doesn't want it. This April nearly 100,000 new cars have been sold, that's a record for April sales. New car s...
