Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
This is good new for the CBD, potentially bad news for the Westfield group. Must admit, I haven't been to Tea Tree Plaza or Marion for about 4+ years. I grew up in the NE suburbs and as a kid, would have 'hang out' at Tea Tree Plaza about 2-3 times a week in 1990s. Even when we used to visit my Nan...

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
Because building something like that would just be a historical pastiche, that would undermine the true heritage buildings in North Adelaide. Yet, what they propose is a historical pastiche to the modernist movement of the 1970s. Everything we build today, one day will be considered heritage, so wo...

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use
You can do a lot for $200 million. Why do we want something that's coloured like baby poo and looks like it was designed by a 1970s modernist architect that just graduated? Whatever happened to wanting to leave your mark with timeless beauty instead?

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects
If we keep 'activating' the laneways and sidestreets off Hindley St creating a very pedestrian oriented environment that attracts a lot of foot traffic, do you think it would be a good idea to one day close off Hindley St to traffic east of Morphett - mirroring Rundle Mall? Sadly a barrier to closi...

Re: City to airport tramline
Just got back From, brisbane and the airtrain was so helpful. It was only $15 to get into the city and it only took 25 mins. So much cheaper and quicker than taking a taxi, wish the people of adelaide were smart enough to seek inspiration from other city rather than coming up with stupid ideas which...

Re: Islington | Developments & News
Is there any news on what's going to happen with the SW corner of Regency and Churchill? It's been sitting vacant forever, and it's on top of a train station (6 min ride to the city every 15 min on weekdays) and I've always thought it'd be a prime spot for apartments.

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
Is there a greater environmental benefit to electrifying the existing network, or keeping the existing network diesel powered and instead spend that money on increasing frequencies or adding new lines - removing cars off the road and decreasing our pollution that way?

How did they get the name Aria? Hopefully it won't be associated with Jodi Arias.

It works in Brisbane, and the basement of the Myer Centre doubles as a bus hub so they get a monopoly on all those people streaming through the shopping centre on their commute every day.Phantom wrote:The top of the Myer Centre isn't that bad of an idea, to be honest. I like those cheap temporary side windows (it looks like they're anticipating someone to build next door).

[COM] Re: U/C: Southern Expressway Duplication | $445m | 22km
It's a little bumpy when someone cops it for simply making an observation. I find irony in how we often get contradictory projects. Every time someone will announce a plan to make a community more livable and focus on infill development and reducing car dependency, there will be another announcemen...
