Surely it would cost millions more to convert all of the Outer Harbor train stations to suit trams as well?
Then again some of them look pretty dodgy (ie. Albert Park) so some investment might not go astray.

It's not amazing but we've seen worse. After the issues with the Adelaide Uni medical building I'll just be curious to see if it looks like the render.

[SWP] Re: Former RAH Site (Design Competition)
I can only echo all of your comments. Apartments should not be built on the parklands and the site screams ghetto. If we're posting modest surpluses then I don't think it's too much to ask that we get a contemporary art gallery going. Apparently the Cabinet is still looking at this so I'd hope it ca...

While the "annex" looks almost prison-like, I'd be quite glad to see this one go ahead - and hopefully one day will be surpassed in height by something properly visionary.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Central Markets
I don't think the existing market should be extended. The arcade is different with all the mixture of shops and Coles. Sure, create a better flow between the two, but if the market is too big and has too many stalls I don't think it would thrive.

Happy to see this sort of development go ahead in our inner suburbs. And I think it's a more appropriate location for offices than apartments, given the proximity to the traffic (the main problem I have with the apartment proposal across the road).

Interesting to see a lot of those new low-rise buildings on the campus too - the white boxes with the grassy roofs. Quite a few changes coming if they can afford it.

I've flown on the new Qatar service there and back recently and the plane was full both times. That's a shame but five times a week isn't bad, and better than being triangulated with Melbourne.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Is it just me or is it quite unusual that the Southern Expressway - a major urban freeway with several lanes in either direction - has no lights? Drove home tonight and found it pretty odd, especially in the fog.
Was this to appease local residents?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Pretty disappointing if true, but it's an arrangement that worked for Cathay Pacific for many years. It's not that bad to spend an extra couple hours going via Melbourne on the way if you can fly straight into Adelaide on the way home.

I still can't believe we're putting an office tower in one of the premier public locations in Adelaide. I lived in Adelaide for 25 years and didn't go there once. I find that hard to believe. I'm not much more than 25 and I've been there many times, particularly in the last two years. This is a mor...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Isn't the problem with King William Road that it's relatively close to the existing Glenelg Tram? The southern section of Hyde Park is then only a few minutes walk from Millswood on the Belair Line. How about Duthy Street or even Fullarton Road? Might encourage some more development. A tram to Duthy...
