Is Wallaroo that place which was meant to be a holiday location, but it failed. And it has a ferry service. Or is that another place?

The main street of Wallaroo in it's present form is a shocker.

The second stage of this development has been released onto the market. The second tower is called 'Dolce Marina Apartments' and it includes 16 apartments amongst its 7 levels. The apartments are selling fast, with 8 already sold.

meanwhile work continues on the first stage of the development. All apartments in Tower 1 have already been sold, and work on the tavern appears to have been finished. It is expected that all work on the first stage will be completed by the end of the year.

But the Copper Triangle is a desirable holiday tourist destination. It's the Victor Harbor of the North ;)

There was a story on TT last night, about residents strongly opposing a Woolworths development in the Wallaroo town centre which the local council support. The main reasons why the residents oppose this include fear that Woolies will kill of local businesses (including Foodland), higher prices and they believe the town isn't big enough for another supermarket.

Residents and myself for that matter am puzzled at why Woolworths would even want to open a store in Wallaroo considering it only has around 3000 people and theres already a Woolies 9km up the road in Kadina.

However the developers Leascorp have hit back saying the town is going to increase by 40% in the next few years

Also majority of residents (young & old) say they definitely do not oppose development in the township, quite a few said Wallaroo needs it.

I reckon if Coles moved into town there would still be quite a few people opposing it, but nowhere as near for Woolworths, mainly because there is already one in the area.

I say good luck to them!
