If I Were Premier of South Australia...
Re: If I Were Premier of South Australia...
... I would rubber stamp development and bulldoze everything that got in the way!

If I were Premier of SA, I'd flip the birdy to the eastern states and make them know that we are not be messed with! Present a confident face for the state and let nothing from our State Bank past or anything like it hold us back. Let the NIMBY's know there place (Saturn) and push developments for the public forward with an iron fist to the highest quality possible. Encourage companies to set up here with low set up costs. I shall also push for an improved public transport system including a great tram and bus system as well as a rebuilt rail system with excellent connections. Private and freight transport will also be looked at and improved where possible.
I shall balance all of this with fiscal financial planning and careful and considering spending.

Demolish the Old Gaol in favour of a car park? What a crime against humanity! I sentence you to hang until you are dead!
I thought we learnt from the mistakes of the past:
Grand Central Hotel (in background), demolished for the Hungry Jacks car park.
Royal Adelaide Exhibition Building, demolished for the Adelaide Uni car park.

Big difference. Those two buildings were grand. The Gaol is an ugly dump.AtD wrote:Demolish the Old Gaol in favour of a car park? What a crime against humanity! I sentence you to hang until you are dead!

I would rebuild The Exhibition building with 'modern' features if I were also to become premier.
Ofcourse its all part of my 15 year plan in which the state gives me every power possible

If I were you I would say all that and then add 'To pay for these projects we will build a massive Nuclear plant at Port Augusta and export the electricity all over Australia, reaping the benefiets of the hippies from the east.
Re: If I Were Premier of South Australia...

Oh so you think the gaol is worth demolishing then Mr. Shuz?Shuz wrote:And you Cruise, are just a plain old bogan.
Or are you trying to yank my chain? Sorry, I'm to strong to put up with your such childish insults.
Re: If I Were Premier of South Australia...
What purpose does the Old Gaol serve? People are only playing the heritage card because the bricks are old... I wish they'd demolish the thing already. Its ugly, its boring and contributes hardly anything for Adelaide, economically and socially.Cruise wrote:Oh so you think the gaol is worth demolishing then Mr. Shuz?Shuz wrote:And you Cruise, are just a plain old bogan.

Exactly. Its ugly. I am all for keeping good heritage things. But its ugly and it was a GAOL.
Ferchristsakes. You drive past it and its an ugly fence with about 100 copper cars in there. Knock it down, attach a tram link and make it a massive underground car park so we can save the city for buildings. Also it would be brilliant for the soccer down the road. Park your car and get shuttled down the road.
