Just a thought. It'd be cool if a suburban jetty had a pavilion built at the far end. How much would it cost to built something swanky? obviously there is no land cost involved - couple of million perhaps?
Here's a couple of pikkies of the Henley Beach Jetty Pavilion which was destroyed in storms ~1950.

Re: Suburban Jetty Pavilion
Although I like the modern Southport Pier, I don't see value in pavilions on the end of jetties. I would rather have boats or yachts moor there than fancy buildings that could be damaged in winter storms. At least with boats and yachts you could cruise up and down the coast and stop at all the jetties. Just my worth.

a full legnth pier (similar to Chicago's Navy Pier) at Glenelg would be nice (with restraunts and other attractions) would be nice but the shallow water would sort of negate it a bit because the main purpose of a Pier is for ships to dock. I doubt the precious residents would care for it either.
