#U/C [Germany] Stuttgart 21

#1 Post by Norman » Sun Apr 27, 2008 4:58 pm

This massive project in my old home town of Stuttgart is starting to take shape. The project involves turning Central Station by 90 Degrees to transform it from a ground level dead-end station to an underground through-flowing station. Cost is about $AU8b, and includes new development areas around where the tracks and railway storage used to be. The project also includes a new regional stop for the airport (a la Frankfurt Airport).

More information to be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart_21

There is the general map, from Wikipedia:

The German website is here: http://www.stuttgart21.de/site/stuttgar ... start.html

Some of the renders from the site are below:

Attached you can see the birds eye view of part of the new development area. Lots of high-rises will spring up there, a la Docklands.
