I'm hoping this thread gets little in the way of content:
ADELAIDE has lost the right to host the Australian Performing Arts Market to Brisbane from 2014.

http://www.performingartsmarket.com.au/about

APAM, a biennial performing arts market which attracts programmers from around the world, has been held alongside the Adelaide Festival since 1998.

Federal funding body, the Australia Council for the Arts, today awarded the tender for the 2014, 2016 and 2018 events to the Brisbane Powerhouse.

Since 1998, the Australia Council has partnered with Arts SA to deliver APAM, which has been produced by Arts Projects Australia.

During that time, the event has grown from 200 participants to 584 participants last year, including nearly 200 international delegates from 26 countries seeking events to program for their own arts centres and festivals.

The 2012 APAM will still be held at the Adelaide Festival Centre from February 26 to March 1, - Thursday 1 March.

Big Day Out axes Kanye West to make SA show more magical
by: Sam Kelton From: AdelaideNow November 09, 2011 8:47am 133 comments

THE Big Day Out has pulled headline act Kanye West from its Adelaide and Perth shows next year.

In a statement from organisers, Adelaide will become a scaled down event with only one main stage "to capture the magic of early Big Day Out Shows".

The Living End and punk rockers Mariachi El Bronx have also been culled from the Adelaide performance.

This comes after the announcement of more than 10 more acts nationwide for the festival, including former Oasis guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher.

Current ticket holders in Adelaide now have a few options:

1. You are automatically entitled to $20 credit from the show merchandise

2. Tickets already purchased can either be exchanged for Gold Coast / Sydney or Melbourne shows

3. Refund will be available from your original outlet up until November 30, 2011

What about the Adelaide Motorshow & SA-FM Skyshow? Both of those have slipped away a couple of years ago.

soon to become a very sore wound for Melbourne

a great international event that when hosted in little old Adelaide was more successful and popular, i think the crowd was ~510,000 in 1995, but when hosted in Melbourne they only got ~400,000 in the first year, it's popularity faded with every year, even this year they only got about ~200,000, and it's likely the last F1GP in Melbourne will be in 2015.

Would be great if Adelaide could take it back, have the Grand Prix in mad march and shift the Adelaide 500 to the spring time, like late october or early november :D

Well, the Clipsal 500 website doesn't have the information for Skyshow for some reason.

Can we as a city and a state please stop this crap about the grand prix?

I honestely think it makes us look childish and immature.

Not really. Clipsal 500 always had fireworks at the end, they just started calling it 'Skyshow' because the people running it realised it's a tag that's popular with the locals.

There's not really been that much said about it... besides, this is about lost events, and the grand prix is the biggest of them all. Hopefully we get it back one day when Melbourne finally have to end theirs due to how much they're loosing, then again, I heard a while ago that Ecclestone will probably shift entirely away from Australia because people back in Europe can't watch it on television.

I first went there in 2008 to see Sneaky Sound System play live and after that, I did see a few fireworks that only lasted about 2 minutes.

The Northern Lights was a 'once off' event. There was never an intention to repeat it again.
