All sold out! I guess I won't be going after all then.

Just more evidence that there actually are people in Adelaide who want fun things to do in their spare time.

Meanwhile Mt Thebarton is for sale and not doing so well. Maybe a lot of people have forgotten this place exists? I remeber when I was a kid going and using the toboggan slopes. They should reopen this up.

^^ Mt thebarton just needs some proper management and marketing to get it back up and running well. For some reason they closed down the slope years ago and I dont remember the last time i saw any form of advertising from them. I think it would be cool if they did some sort of ice bar or something and have live music etc etc. There are lots of things that could be done with that facility.

Agreed. It would be a real shame to see this close. They should look at what attractions of this type are doing internationally and copy some of those ideas (toboggan slopes with modern tobaggans, snowball fights, snowman competitions, a much more welcoming (and warmer) spectators area), ice dancing sessions and lessons, appropriately themed restaurants and cafes, appropriately themed shops selling ski equipment and accessories, night sessions with interesting music and lighting, sessions where you can watch famous ice dancers, and that's without even beginning to think outside the square!!!). As Spiller said there are lots of things they could do.

Why aren't they attracting events such as Disney on Ice there rather than them going to the entertainment centre?

Why aren't they building strong relationships with hotels and other places potential tourists would stay whereby they offer holidays specifically themed around skiing and/or the various other activities that could be on offer there. The holidays could include several "free" sessions a discount on food and beverages at the venue.

Another factor is that the building is looking a bit tired both inside and out. It also needs a new name, new logo, and modern, fun, and exciting branding.

I remember when I had my 6th birthday party there! Wow. Back then the toboggan slope still existed. That was a ton of fun.

The IceArena's biggest drawcard at the moment is its Frosty Friday sessions, but these are mainly attended by the 12-16 year old demographic.

I haven't been there since November 2010 so I evidently haven't missed much, alas.

I've moved this post from developments to events seeing that it's a thirty day temporary event and not a permanent development.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
