What do Registered users:Google Adsense [Bot], MSN [Bot], Yahoo [Bot] do?

I assume Google and Yahoo are for the various search engines...is the MSN one the same? or is it something nifty tied into msn messenger?

I don't get visited by Google Adsense, but Google, MSN & Yahoo are regular visitors to my site looking
for stuff to index. MSN is part of Microsoft Search, & also shows up as Livebot (http://www.live.com)

The various search engine bots identify themselves like this:
