Turnip.... that's about enough now. Your posts are getting on the nerves of everyone.

Cruise ignore him... my apologies for the trolls we've been getting on the forums of late.

Any further donations or has it dried up Howie ? We seem to be a couple of hundred
short of that 2 year figure you wanted .

There's been one other .. i've just updated the first post. The tally now sits at $981.74. So yes we're still a little short off our 2 year goal.. but i'm confident we can get there. But i'm really really stoked that we're able to move off that old server.. hopefully everyone's noticed the speed/performance on the new server.

Okay now that we're onto the new webserver, it looks like we're still getting a few overloading issues.
Hello,

Services in your VPS were killed due to OOM(Out Of Memory), this happens when memory usage exceeds the specified limit and kernel forcefully kills certain processes to free up memory.
Please have a check at the logs below:

I have restarted all the services and your domain should be loading fine now. Please note that if this issue persists, you might need to consider an upgrade to Plan2.
Let us know if you need further assistance.
hmm.. problem is Plan2 is a nearly twice the price. :S We'll see how we go, otherwise we may have to try bumping our donation thread again.

There's plenty of regular contributors to this forum who haven't yet donated to this cause - and i don't mean the students
who would find it difficult. I think with a little persuasion more people will come on board.

I think we're managing the memory problem alright at the moment, we're just going to have to wait for another big news day to see how our server goes under full load. If we need, we could do another donation run to get us to the next plan up.. it's the final step before going a dedicated server (and that's something i'm not too keen on at the moment).

It'll be most likely double the current plan we're on. But we'll play it by ear and see how this one handles a really big news day.

I should presume so, I just chip in my part at the last minute, I would be happy to contribute more in the future if needed to. I have had a few hard times getting in earlier this week.

I'd be interested to know what kind of load this site puts on your server.
The main problem with Virtual Private Servers is the artificial system resources limit, which i'm sure is annoying with a popular site such as this.

Just about, although depending on how our memory holds up we may have to goto the next plan up. We're chewing through ram like you wouldn't believe.

A couple of suggestions :

Adding a facility which will enable users to upload photo's directly to this site. It a bit of a pain
having to upload them to another site and then link them up.

Setting up closer links between this site and the adelaide city council. Michael Harbison obviously finds it useful
to log on to this site and view the public's opinion of projects.
