news! Skyscraper city forums got hacked :(

#1 Post by Howie » Sat Jul 16, 2005 3:15 pm

Poor fellas.... they posted a message up saying they got hacked, and that they're currently under the control of a hacker. They'll be reinstalling the forums right about now....

gotta feel for them.

Is there anyway we can protect this site?
Walking on over....

yeah, by not using PHPBB!

or at least not allow guests to post ;) make registration mandatory and require confirmation/authentication email.

Skyscraper forum uses VBB. But phpbb's been known for a few exploits, i'll update it asap.

I thought about that, the reason i left it empty initially was because i wanted ppl to contribute without feeling that they have to sign up... but now that it's picking up, and for the benefit of other members in keeping this place a d-head free zone... i'll reenable mandatory registration (was about to write detention for some reason lOL).

Thanks for the feedback tayser.. much appreciated :)
